Hi there 77ers,
Hope you are all well. I have received the email below from KSHS about a book that has been written on the first 50 years of the school. I have just done a cut and paste of the email below. Some of you may have received it too. They are looking for ‘ advance orders’ for the book for $30. They will be going to print soon and want orders by the end of next week.
Over to you if you want to order one and pass it on to anyone else who may be interested.
Thanks
Mark.
Dear past students of KSHS,
We are very excited to let you know that, a team of writers headed by local historian and writer Judy Magub, have been compiling a fabulous history book exploring the first 50 year of Kenmore High (see more information below). We are anticipating this book will be back from the printers late November early December, but so we can gauge how many books to print, we are asking for those who would like a copy to pre-order it. The cost of the book is $30. If you would like to order a copy, you can do so on the QKR payment app, or by replying to this email or emailing [email protected]. Appreciating that you may need to have a book posted to you, we will advise postage costs when the book is printed and we are able to sort that out, but postage should cost between $12 and certainly no more than $15 in Australia. We need orders/responses by the end of next week when we will be sending the book to the printer. Can we also ask that you forward this to any other past students you think may be interested, and if you have a page for your year level if you could put this information on that.
Many thanks,
Sue Abbott

This is a book about an incredible school and 50 years of its history – the people who’ve gone through as students and where they are now, the challenges, the victories and the creation of an inclusive public school culture. The writers have discovered, among the ten thousand students who have passed through the school, wonderful stories of positive contributions to the lives of communities around the world. Many have shared their memories of Kenmore High and its impact on their lives. As well, there are stories of outstanding achievers, leaders in the fields of medical research, business, the diplomatic service, sport and media and the arts. It’s the story of fascinating origins, the earnest drive of early Kenmore residents for a high school, the energetic and willing parents and students, how the school overcame challenges like floods and Covid, the life of the vibrant, committed staff and how they developed an innovative curriculum, how Kenmore led in technologically assisted learning, its excellent arts and media programs and bands. In all, the story of how it grew into a great school. The book has been put together by a team of passionate writers, comprising Judy Magub OAM local historian and writer, Richard Davey and Don Mansfield, both life members of the KSHS P&C Association, Colin Stewart former KSHS HOD, Roger Fry past KSHS teacher and Jeff Shepherd, past Kenmore High principal.
