Big concerts are coming to Australia in 2027 🎶

BTS, Bruno Mars, Calvin Harris and more are touring Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide next year. Most shows are in February and March, and tickets are already on sale.

Changing education providers? There's a new rule you need to know 📚

From 2 October 2026, international students need to finish 12 months of their main course before they can transfer to a new provider. Before, it was 6 months.

🗓️ This change is temporary. From 1 July 2027, it goes back to 6 months.
🏫 School students are not affected.
⏳ Some students who were already free to transfer under the old rule may now need to wait a bit longer.

Your 12 months start from the day your main course starts, not from when you arrived in Australia.

From 1 July 2027, the 12-month rule ends, but changing providers won't be as simple as before. You'll need to apply for a new Student visa (subclass 500) through a new transfer stream.

📋 You must get your new visa before you start at your new provider
📅 Your new visa will have the same end date as your current one

New Student Visa (subclass 500) rules start today, 2 October 2026 📢

The Australian Government has introduced changes to who can apply for a Student Visa in Australia and who can include family members in their application.

Key changes:
🔹 Holders of most temporary visas, including the Working Holiday Visa (subclass 417), Work and Holiday Visa (subclass 462) and Skills in Demand Visa (subclass 482), must now leave Australia to apply for a Student Visa
🔹 Current Student Visa holders can only apply for another Student Visa in Australia if an exemption applies
🔹 Most new applicants can no longer include a partner or children in their application
🔹 Family members can no longer be added after a Student Visa is granted

Applications lodged before 2 October 2026 will be assessed under the rules that applied when they were lodged.

⏰ Daylight saving starts this Sunday, 4 October!

At 2:00am, clocks in New South Wales, Victoria, the ACT, Tasmania, and South Australia will move forward one hour. Queensland, Western Australia, and the Northern Territory will stay on standard time.

📍 Living in Brisbane? Your clocks will not change, but the time difference with Sydney and Melbourne will become one hour. Check the times for any online classes, meetings, or calls with people in other states.

🌞 Daylight saving runs until Sunday, 4 April 2027, giving participating states more daylight in the evening during the warmer months.

The ACT has released its tentative invitation round schedule for the 2026–27 program year 📢

If you have submitted a Canberra Matrix for ACT nomination, the first invitation round is planned for the week starting 12 October 2026. This applies to the Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190) and the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (subclass 491).

📅 Tentative invitation rounds:
🔹 Week starting 12 October 2026
🔹 Week starting 25 January 2027
🔹 Week starting 22 March 2027
🔹 Week starting 24 May 2027

Please note that these dates may change without notice. The ACT has also not announced its 2026–27 nomination allocation yet.

Already a registered nurse back home? 🌏➡️🇦🇺

You don't need to repeat your nursing degree to get PR in Australia. My sister found that out too. She studied a Master of Health Service instead, got up to a 50% scholarship, and her AHPRA registration came through while she was still studying.

🚨 Australia just tightened the rules on three major visas: Student (500), Graduate (485), and Working Holiday (WHV).

Here's what changed after Tony Burke's National Press Club address:

📌 New 500 & 485 visa applications can no longer include a partner or children as dependents. Exceptions apply for Pacific and ASEAN nationals, and PhD/research students.

📌 Students can no longer downgrade to a lower level course on the same visa.

📌 WHV 2nd & 3rd year applications now face a cap, likely by ballot. Processing has already slowed since July.

📌 Visitor (600) visas will carry Condition 8503 (no further stay), blocking onshore transfer to another visa.

Important: none of this applies retroactively. If you're already in Australia on one of these visas, your current conditions stand. The changes apply when you apply new, renew, or switch visa subclass.
