Working in fabrication or welding and thinking about what’s next?

There’s a clear pathway to build on your trade skills and move towards supervision:

→ Certificate III Engineering – Fabrication Trade
→ Certificate IV Engineering – Welding
→ Welding Supervision

It’s a step from doing the work to having more input into how it’s done — from quality to coordination.

If you’re looking to step up, or you’re building capability in your team, get in touch.

This is what real training looks like 🔧

Alex completing MEM05090 – manual metal arc welding as part of his Boilermaking trade.

Delivered in the workshop, with support from a trainer who’s come directly from industry.

At Outsource Institute, we keep training practical:
✔ Real workplace environments
✔ Real equipment and job conditions
✔ Trainers with genuine industry experience

Because learners shouldn’t just complete units — they should leave with skills they can confidently take back onto site.

Nice work Alex 👊

Hospitals, bridges, power stations and manufacturing plants don’t just “appear”.
They’re built by skilled people - and that workforce doesn’t maintain itself.

Our Director, Carl Spruce, has shared his thoughts on what the latest Federal Budget means for:

✅ apprenticeships
✅ vocational training
✅ employer incentives
✅ Australia’s long‑term skills capability

There are positives, but also some hard truths about where we’re falling short.

🚀 Industry‑ready CAM skills

We recently delivered our 4‑day Computer‑Aided Manufacturing (CAM) Course in the Wide Bay region, focused on building practical CNC and manufacturing skills that industry genuinely needs.

What participants learned:

✅ Build CAD/CAM skills from the ground up
✅ Import CAD models into CAM software
✅ Generate toolpaths and machining strategies
✅ Select cutting tools and set machining parameters
✅ Simulate machining processes
✅ Output CNC‑ready G‑code and M‑code

To put learning into practice, students designed a model and 3D printed it, connecting digital design directly to real‑world production.

The course was delivered face‑to‑face at the MSQ Centre of Excellence, in partnership with Manufacturing Queensland, using Autodesk Inventor, and included formal recognition on completion.

Practical training. Real outcomes. Skills employers are actively looking for.

Real skills deserve real recognition. ✅

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) can be a great way to turn real workplace experience into a qualification - but only when it’s done properly.

Quality RPL is a structured process. It involves:
- Clear guidance and support
- Collecting real evidence of skills
- Proper assessment against qualification requirements

At Outsource Institute, we support Real Skills Deserve Real Recognition and are committed to delivering genuine, evidence‑based RPL that stands up, now and into the future.

If you’re considering RPL, choose a provider that does it properly and takes the time to assess your real skills.
