San Sisto College was honoured to attend the official Women’s Shed Sod Turning Ceremony - a major milestone over three years in the making.

Hosted by Cr Lisa Atwood and attended by Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner and Di Farmer MP, the event celebrated the incredible vision and resilience of the five-woman committee driving this project forward.

Our students felt privileged to attend, gaining a deep appreciation for collaboration and the power of women working together for the common good. 🤝✨

Why the Women’s Shed matters:
A Women’s Shed is a safe, inclusive space for women of all ages to connect, learn, and grow through:

Skill Sharing: From woodworking and pottery to sewing and yoga.
Mentorship: Building powerful intergenerational connections.
Wellbeing: Fostering belonging, purpose, and community support.

We are so proud of our students for representing San Sisto College at this landmark event, and we can’t wait to see this vibrant community hub come to life! 🛠️🌱

🏔️ 1 MONTH TO GO - The Kokoda Challenge

The countdown is on! In exactly one month, 10 of our incredible San Sisto teams will tackle "Australia’s toughest team endurance event" - the Gold Coast Kokoda Challenge.

On 18th July, our students and staff will put months of gruelling training to the test in the Gold Coast hinterland. Walking the 30km or the ultimate 48km course, they are trekking in honour of the 1942 Kokoda Campaign, embodying the true spirit of Courage, Endurance, Mateship, and Sacrifice. 🤝✨

Our teams have been training incredibly hard, and now they need our community’s backing! This event raises vital funds for youth programs, and every dollar donated gives our girls an extra boost of motivation.

🌟 How You Can Help
If you would like to support their massive effort, please consider donating to our San Sisto fundraising pages. Visit the Kokoda Challenge website, click 'donate', and search for our SSC teams!

We are already so proud of you all!

Our Year 11 and 12 Certificate II in Health students traded the classroom for the real world recently, heading into the city for a hands-on training day at the Training Centre on Charlotte Street. 👩‍⚕️🏥

Students put their theory into practice by mastering the art of making hospital beds, navigating food service requirements, and learning the vital techniques for safely moving patients within health service environments.

It was a fantastic day of practical learning and a wonderful sneak peek into their future careers. Brilliant work, everyone! 🙌

Tomorrow Tuesday, 16 June will be our Hoodie/Oodie Day in support of the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal! 🧣🩵❄️🧥

❤️ A $2 donation allows you to wear a hoodie or oodie for the day (cash or card).
🖤 Donations will be collected before school and at the start of Period 1.
❤️ Once you’ve donated, you’ll receive a wristband - this lets you keep your hoodie/oodie on all day.

Please note:
🖤 If you do not donate, you won’t receive a wristband and will be asked to remove your hoodie/oodie 🚫🧥
❤️ This is not a free dress day 🚫👕 - full winter uniform must be worn to and from school
🖤 Hoodies/oodies should not be worn on arrival - full winter uniform is to be worn and then hoodie/oodies can replace the blazer inside school gates
❤️ Hoodies/oodies must be removed before leaving the school gates

Thank you for your support of the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal - your generosity will make a real difference this winter 💙

🏐🌟Shooting for the stars... Literally!🌟🏐

Our Junior and Open Netball teams represented SSC with pride at the Vicki Wilson Met East Netball Tournament, showing all other schools exactly what SSC students are made of!

Across a big day of competition, both teams displayed incredible teamwork, determination, and spirit - securing some fantastic wins along the way. Even as the day grew long and fatigue set in, their effort never wavered, and their positive attitudes shone through every game.

More importantly, their sportsmanship and conduct made them outstanding ambassadors for our school both on and off the court.

A big thank you to our amazing coaches, managers, and supportive parents for helping make the day such a success - we couldn’t do it without you!
