It is our pleasure to present the third, and last of this years finalists for the 2026 Australian Christian Teacher of the Year Award, Sam Waldron from Bayside Christian College (Victoria).

Sam’s nomination, which came from a student, reflects the significant impact he is having on the young people he teaches, as does their shared interest in God’s Word, literature and writing, which is perhaps countercultural in this digital age. His heart to listen, honour God's voice in others and foster authentic community are some of the reasons he was selected among this year’s outstanding nominations. Christian schooling is truly blessed to have so many incredible Christian teachers like Sam.

The winner will be announced at the Christian Schools Australia National Policy Forum in Canberra.

It is our pleasure to present the second of our finalists for the 2026 Australian Christian Teacher of the Year Award, Cathy Wanganga from Arise Christian College a part of Maitland Christian School.

It is clear that Cathy cultivates warmth, trust and belonging among her students. Her passion and dedication to teaching students with additional needs, together with her nurturing approach and intentional design of tailored curriculum that places God at the centre and recognises the importance of prayer, are some of the reasons she was selected among this year’s outstanding nominations. Christian schooling is truly blessed to have so many incredible Christian teachers like Cathy.

It is our pleasure to present the first of our 2026 finalists for the Australian Christian Teacher of the Year Award, Matthew Kippen from Calvary Christian College.

After almost two decades of teaching, Matthew still displays a boots-on-the-ground approach to teaching. His commitment to valuing and empowering students, together with his emphasis that our work is merely a vessel through which God’s greater purpose is shared, are some of the reasons he was selected among this year’s outstanding nominations. Christian schooling are truly blessed to have so many incredible Christian teachers like Matt.
