Is ACX training a good idea?
It doesn't seem like so long ago that Skylotec ACX winches were a rare item, used for niche projects. Now they are fully mainstream, and are being used in Australia for everything from painting and glazing to wind energy to offshore oil and gas.
Companies are using the winches not just to improve safety, but also to gain a competitive advantage as moving people and loads becomes far easier and quicker.
The increased use of powered equipment does however pose some challenges. For the decades where we relied only on gravity and manpower, the potential hazards of equipment use were limited to the force a person can generate. Certainly that can still do some damage, but consider that the ACX is rated for a 400 kg lift, and you can easily see how there is a potentially a higher level of risk. Pinch and crush injuries and damage to ropes being two of the main increased hazards compared to the use of non powered equipment.
If you are interested to develop your skills in this area, then High Q are running a Skylotec accredited ACX Lifting Goods and Personnel: Professional course at our Brisbane training centre on the 29th of April.
