Learning something new takes practice! This week, we explored the Phoenix Cups framework with "Marli’s Try Again Challenge." Building structures from loose parts required plenty of determination when things fell over. These moments created meaningful opportunities to problem-solve, make changes, and build a resilient attitude towards learning.

How do our actions affect the environment?
For Ocean Day, the children explored this big concept by co-building a magnetic board story and diving into an ocean sensory clean-up tray. These interactive experiences beautifully combine complex cause-and-effect reasoning with essential fine motor and concentration skills.

The children enjoyed tasting Lemon Myrtle tea while learning about native Australian plants and their significance to First Nations peoples.
Through this sensory experience, the children explored the unique flavours and aromas of Lemon Myrtle and developed a deeper appreciation for the knowledge and traditions that have been shared for generations.

Child safety is strengthened through the inclusion of family voice. Feedback gathered from families is used to inform and guide our Centre Philosophy, supporting ongoing reflection on our practices, environments, and relationships. This ensures our approach to child safety remains responsive, shared, and continuously evolving.

Today, our Kindy children listened to and reflected on "Let Us Pay Respects" by Aunty Sharron Mirii Bell. Through meaningful discussions, the children explored the importance of showing respect for Country, culture, and the histories and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

Inspired by the song's message, the children expressed their understandings and reflections through their own creative artworks, using a variety of materials and techniques to share what the song meant to them.
We are proud of the thoughtful conversations, curiosity, and respect demonstrated by our young learners as they continue to deepen their understanding of Australia's First Nations cultures and perspectives.

Through mark making, the children explored First Nations symbols, carefully observing and recreating them in their own unique ways.

This experience supported their creativity, fine motor skills, and early literacy, while also encouraging respect and curiosity about First Nations cultures and storytelling.

For Reconciliation Week, the children took part in a meaningful Sea of Hearts project, creating their own decorated hearts as symbols of respect, connection, and belonging.

We then shared these hearts with our local community, displaying them for others to see and reflect on. It was a beautiful way to extend the children’s voices beyond our service and celebrate unity and reconciliation together.

Thank you to-

Counting is more than numbers- it’s problem solving, pattern making, turn taking, and building confidence through play. Through hands-on experiences, children are developing early mathematical thinking as they count, sort, compare, and explore quantity in meaningful ways every day.
