A warm welcome to our incoming 2026 Management Committee!! A huge congratulations to everybody, we can’t wait to see what your terms bring.

𝗚𝗨𝗟𝗦 𝗫 𝗦𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗗𝗕𝗜𝗧𝗘 𝗫 𝗙𝗔𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗢𝗗 𝗗𝗥𝗜𝗩𝗘

GULS is working with SecondBite and Fareshare to run a food drive from next Monday. We ask you to bring in non-perishable items to donate to help raise donations for the SecondBite Kitchen!

At SecondBite, their team rescues surplus food—good food that supermarkets, wholesalers, and farmers can’t sell, but that’s still perfectly fresh and safe to eat. Rather than letting it go to waste, they collect it and get it into the hands of those who need it most.

Then, at FareShare, their chefs and volunteers take that rescued food and prepare nutritious, ready-to-eat meals—which are then distributed to charities, shelters, food banks, and community centres across the country.

Millions of Australians experience food insecurity every year. That includes families, elderly people, students—even students your own age. At the same time, millions of tonnes of food are thrown out every single year in Australia. That’s not just a waste of food—it’s a waste of resources, energy, and opportunity.

Every can, every box of pasta, every packet of rice you donate will make a real, tangible difference. It helps these organisations to feed more people. It helps us waste less. And it helps us build a stronger, more connected community.

You’re not just donating food—you’re delivering hope.

Last year alone, FareShare cooked over 2 million meals, and SecondBite rescued enough food to provide over 50 million meals across Australia.

So here’s how you can help:

🥫Bring in non-perishable items: canned chickpeas, lentils, red kidney bean, veggies and soups, pasta, rice, long-life milk, healthy snacks.

🥫Tell your families and friends about what we’re doing.

🥫Think about the impact of even a small act of generosity—because it all adds up.

Together, we can fight hunger. Together, we can fight waste. And together, we can show what community looks like.

Donations can be dropped off to N61, 015 and will be collected at 3:00pm on 26 September.

The conference runs over three days, from 9 - 11 October.
