🎉 Celebrating 17 Years of Footprints! 🎉

On this day 17 years ago, in 2009, Footprints opened its doors for the very first time. 💚👣

So much has changed over the years, but one thing that has always remained at the heart of Footprints is our wonderful children, families and educators.

Over the past 17 years, so many families have walked through our doors and become a special part of the Footprints family. We have watched children grow, celebrated countless milestones, shared plenty of laughter and created so many beautiful memories along the way.

To every child, family and educator—past and present—who has helped make Footprints what it is today, thank you for being part of our journey.

The memories we have created together will always be treasured. 💕👣

Happy 17th Birthday, Footprints! 🎂🎈
Here’s to all the little footprints that have left such a big mark on our hearts. ❤️

🔥 Keeping Safety a Priority 🔥

Last night, the educators at Footprints Sunnybank Child Care Centre attended our annual Fire Safety Training.

Regular training ensures our team is confident, prepared, and equipped to respond quickly and effectively in the event of an emergency. Ongoing professional development like this is an important part of our commitment to providing a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for every child in our care.

A big thank you to our dedicated educators for giving up their evening to refresh their knowledge and strengthen their emergency response skills. Your commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our children is truly appreciated. ❤️

🏅 Did You Know? 🏅

Routinely, Australia proudly hosts the Australian Deaf Games—a fantastic national sporting event that brings together Deaf and hard of hearing athletes from across Australia and the Pacific.

The Games are about so much more than sport. They celebrate community, culture, identity, inclusion and achievement, while providing athletes with the opportunity to compete, connect and showcase their talents across a wide range of sporting events.

In 2024, the Australian Deaf Games were held in Newcastle, and this week the excitement has come to the beautiful Sunshine Coast! 🌞

We know several of our wonderful past and present families have travelled to participate in this year's Games, and we hope they have had an incredible experience filled with friendship, fun and success.

Good luck to all the competitors, and congratulations on being part of such an inspiring event. We are so proud to celebrate and support our Deaf community! 💙🤟

Floral Friday initiative!

Known as the Kukuwam in the Torres Strait, the hibiscus flower is a beautiful symbol of identity and culture. Traditionally, Torres Strait Islander people wear the hibiscus above the ear to signify their marital status—on the right if single, and on the left if married.

For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the hibiscus also represents strength, resilience, hope and healing. It reminds us of the ongoing journey of reconciliation and the importance of celebrating and respecting the world's oldest continuing cultures.

As part of our commitment to embedding Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our everyday practice, we have proudly adopted the hibiscus as our centre flower. Through our weekly Floral Friday initiative, we are creating meaningful opportunities for children, families and educators to learn about, celebrate and appreciate the rich cultures, traditions and stories of the Torres Strait.

Seeing our very first bloom is a special milestone, and we couldn't wait to share it with our wonderful community. 🌺 We hope you'll enjoy watching our hibiscus flourish alongside the learning and conversations it inspires within our centre.
