Deep in the Appalachian Mountains, old stories tell of a mysterious people known as the Moon-Eyed People—strange, pale-skinned beings said to be unusually small, with large eyes that could not tolerate bright sunlight.
Some Appalachian legends say they lived in caves and hidden places, emerging only beneath the moon.
So where did the story come from?
Is it a distorted memory of an ancient people?
An E.T. connecton perhaps?
Then we turn to an even stranger story...
🦋 THE BUTTERFLY PEOPLE
On 22 May 2011, an enormous EF5 tornado tore through Joplin, Missouri, leaving catastrophic destruction behind.
But after the storm, extraordinary stories began to emerge.
Some survivors and children reportedly described seeing mysterious winged or glowing figures during the tornado—beings later known as the Butterfly People.

In this clip crime reporter for the Daily News, Jack Coulter, talks about his investigation of “spirit stones” that fell out of the sky for days and sometimes weeks in South Western Australia during the 1940s and 1950s. In 1957 Coulter was accompanied by Max Holten, photographer for the same paper, as they investigated the phenomenon. They spent three days in the area, with both observing for themselves stones falling, but couldn't give an explanation.
