Two weeks ago, the Artemis II crew made history as they completed a flyby of the moon, travelling further than anyone has before. As they came back into contact with those on the ground, mission specialist Christina Koch had an important message: "We are looking back at you. We hear you can look up and see the moon right now. We see you too. When we burned this burn towards the moon, I said that we do not leave Earth, but we choose it... We will always choose Earth. We will always choose each other."

Despite how big the world can seem, we can almost all be captured in a single photograph. Humanity, and our pale blue dot. Happy Earth Day.

Congratulations again to our 2026 ASDC Finals winners, Magellan, from Oakhill College and Sydney Girls High School, and to everyone that participated this year! As always, we were blown away by the results presented, and we can't wait to see what your futures will hold. Thank you also to everyone who has participated in our feedback survey, which will help us make the competition even better for the future. That's a wrap on Day 1! 💫

After a welcome presentation from President Alex Bowen-Rotsaert and our MC Paul Easton, our companies attended technical and specialist presentations which prepared them for the days ahead. Students then formed their team structures, and were off! They spent the day developing their proposals with guidance and feedback from their mentors, industry advisors, and our expert Red Team.

In the morning, they'll be right back at it, and we can't wait to see what they have developed for their settlements at tomorrow's presentations.

A huge congratulations to the winners of the 2025 Junior Space Design Competition:

🚀 JSDC 2025 Finalists Announced!

The wait is over — congratulations to the finalist teams of the 2025 Junior Space Design Competition! 🎉

This year’s challenge transported students to the year 2072, where they were tasked with creating a video advertisement to attract new recruits to come work and live at the new semi-permanent research base on Europa, one of Jupiter’s icy moons. Their mission: enable exploration of the vast subsurface ocean hidden beneath Europa’s frozen crust.

A panel of industry advisors reviewed every submission, assessing creativity, plausibility, thoroughness, balance, and the minimum requirements of the marketing brief. We extend our sincere thanks to our judges for generously volunteering their expertise. The dedication of our volunteer community is what makes JSDC possible — we couldn’t do it without you.

With the finalists now announced, the winning teams will be revealed very soon. Once again, thank you for being a part of the 2025 JSDC competition, and we hope to see you again next year!
