Clayfield College Clayfield College is a co-educational day and boarding school. The College is owned and governed by the Presbyterian and Methodist Schools Association.

Established in 1931, Clayfield College is a day and boarding school that welcomes students from all over Australia and the world, from Pre-Prep to Year 12. A Clayfield College education goes beyond the acquisition of knowledge, encouraging the questioning of existing knowledge and the creation of new knowledge. Our students learn to think critically, act compassionately and communicate insightfully, allowing them to contribute meaningfully to the world. From 2023, Clayfield College will transition to a thriving co-educational school unlike any other in Brisbane. The Parallel Learning model at Clayfield College will see students experience all the advantages of a coeducational environment as they grow and develop through their early years and primary school. Then, from 2023, Year 7s will begin single-sex learning streams, continuing through Years 8 and 9. In Year 10 students come together for selected classes and then benefit from fully coeducational classes in Years 11 and 12. This unique approach delivers the advantages of coeducation and single-sex education on the one campus – it’s the best of both worlds. At Clayfield College, we believe in the power of the Creative Arts to build student confidence and create experiences that stay with young people for life.

As part of our longstanding partnership with Opera Queensland, our Head of Creative Arts and Languages, Angela Lockyer, recently travelled to Longreach alongside Opera Queensland artist and vocal coach Susan Ellis to work with students from the Longreach School of Distance Education (LSODE) as they prepare for their upcoming production of Grossbusters – The Monster Musical.

The production brings together 117 students from across regional and remote Queensland who have rehearsed primarily online, making the opportunity to learn face-to-face with experienced performers and educators especially valuable.

In a wonderful example of our College's Creative Arts for All philosophy, Angela and Susan shared their expertise through a series of workshops designed to support the cast as they prepare for a milestone performance at QPAC this December.

Among the talented cast are future Clayfield College boarders, siblings of current boarding students and young people connected to our Old Collegians community, highlighting the strong connections between Central Queensland and the broader Clayfield family.

We thank the LSODE community for their warm hospitality during our visit and wish the cast and crew of Grossbusters every success as they continue their journey to the QPAC stage.

Recently, members of Team Clayfield attended the Yalari Gala Dinner in support of our valued College partner.

We were especially proud to celebrate Year 12 boarder Jordyn S, who will graduate from both Clayfield College and Yalari this year. Jordyn joined us from Nhulunbuy in the Northern Territory in Year 7 and has made an outstanding contribution to our College community throughout her time at Clayfield.

We were also delighted to see Year 11 boarder Libby S recognised as the recipient of a Senior Yalari Leadership Award. This award recognises Libby’s compassion, leadership, integrity and commitment to supporting others.

Having previously served as a Yalari Captain, Libby continues to lead by example, regularly checking in on her peers and helping ensure everyone feels included, valued and supported as part of the Clayfield community.

Congratulations, Jordyn and Libby! We are incredibly proud of you both.

Our Year 6 students enjoyed a half-day workshop with artist David Wells, exploring the techniques behind realism and portraiture.

Through demonstrations, hands-on learning and individual feedback, students discovered how to build effective underlayers to create realistic skin tones, depth and detail in their self-portraits.

It was wonderful to see students experiment and refine their techniques as their artwork took shape. This was a fantastic opportunity to learn from an accomplished artist and bring their creativity to life ahead of our LUX 26 Exhibition!

From the track to the field our QGSSSA Athletes gave it their all, with every performance reflecting weeks of preparation and a dedication to Team Clayfield.

The connection between our athletes and our Croc Squad created a truly special atmosphere lifting our team throughout the QGSSSA Championship and reminding us of the strength of our community.

We are proud of the commitment our athletes have shown throughout the season and celebrate their efforts, personal bests and the pride with which they represented Clayfield.

Our youngest students enjoyed a morning of movement and fun at our recent Pre-Prep to Year 1 Games Day!

With the enthusiastic support of families cheering from the sidelines, students put their skills into action across a series of athletics challenges, including sprints, high jump, long jump and throwing events.

A highlight for many students was the noisy chicken race and the popular sack race, which resulted in plenty of laughter and excitement from participants and spectators.

After building their coordination, movement skills and confidence in HPE lessons throughout the term, it was wonderful to see our youngest athletes try new skills and enjoy being active together.

Our Junior Boys brought plenty of energy and team spirit to the Britton Shield Basketball competition as they represented Clayfield across U8, U10 and U12 divisions.

For many of our U8 Boys, it was their first basketball competition and a fantastic opportunity to develop their skills and match experience in a competitive environment.

With two teams competing in both the U10 and U12 divisions, our boys showed great teamwork and persistence throughout the day. A special congratulations to our U12 Green team, who went undefeated to claim the U12 Championship Trophy!

Well done to all our boys for the way they competed and represented the College.
