Today’s aged care visit to our friends of Naz, ended with a very special gift from the residents for the children and families at Naz ELC - a Koala 🐨 and Kangaroo 🦘
We will find them a home at the centre and the children will be picking their names 🙂

Palm Sunday: Where does this Biblical event occur? To continue to broaden our knowledge of the world we had a closer look of a map of Israel and then we found Jerusalem. We read the Biblical account of Jesus triumphant entry to Jerusalem using the children’s Bible. We discussed different modes of transport (donkeys) and different ways to celebrate (waving and putting down palm leaves) are different to what may be done today. We then had a look at a few different artistic depictions of this story. One was by an Australian Indigenous artist and together we had a look at the different symbols used and our thoughts on what they represented. We then shared a cutting and gluing activity in which we could make our own celebratatory branches.
This activity focused on children practising their fine motor skills to snip the paper leaves, cut the palm leaves and add glue to their creation. There is a lot of fine motor muscles needed to complete these branches!
Cutting off some palm leaves to add to the artwork allowed another sensory experience but a great way to “feel” an important element in the Biblical story we shared. These palm branches are now proudly on display near our sacred space.
