An unexpected encounter with Charles Russell and his wife Chris today. It's always great to catch up with people who, like me, enjoyed their time at OSHS. I was Joanne Mortenson during my time there - 66-68
(Apologies for the quality of the photo, Facebook seems to have blurred it somewhat).

Julie Kean has sent through this message today regarding a 50 year reunion:

50 YEAR REUNION POSTPONED for first students 1966 through to graduates in 1970 including all those who left before 1970.
DATE SAVER for May 16th is now subject to our current pandemic. I cant see it working for May, so will be postponed at this stage. It will be rescheduled once restrictions are lifted. Government is saying that it will take 6 months.
I'm still looking for past students, so please make yourself known in the comments if you would like to attend, or let others know that I am trying to make it happen.

Ron Ruys is trying to contact Kay Jennifer Counihan who attended OSHS from 68-70. Please leave a comment below if you can help him.

I've received an email from Ann Baillie (formerly Shearman) who some of you may remember as a teacher at OSHS from 1977 - 1983. Ann has sent the following information regarding the late Mrs Falk and asked that it be posted on our page:

Were you in the Oxley State High School Band? The Gamelan Orchestra? Were you part of the band tours of Western Queensland and interstate? Was Margaret Falk your music teacher? Photographs of the band, its performances and tours; the Gamelan orchestra and details of school musicals were kept by Margaret Falk and are now part of the State Library of Queensland collection. You can telephone 07 38407810 to arrange a visit and request that the boxes of material be brought up to Level 4 of the State Library of Queensland South Bank for you to view.

I've also included a couple of photos that Ann sent through.

Thanks very much to Ann for getting in touch and thanks to Sharon Chemello for passing our contact details to Ann so we could share this.

In case anyone is interested, there's going to be an Oxley SHS reunion on the 17th of November at the RE (Royal Exchange Hotel) in Toowong. This event is not organised by this page but it's legit and it's open to anyone that attended the school over the years. I will attach a link of the official invitation below in the comments.

Unfortunately it appears that a couple of people have taken it upon themselves to set fire the the school. More details available on the Courier Mail website.

Time to admit defeat :( Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to organise anything even vaguely resembling a get together for the original students of our school. I would be extremely happy if someone who is located a little closer to Brisbane than I am would take on this task. Any takers?

Wishing all the past students and staff a fantastic 2016!

I haven't forgotten about a 50th anniversary get together - it's just that work and Christmas somehow interrupted me :/

I'd be really happy if I could get some suggestions for a location as I haven't lived in the area for many years. Unfortunately the school isn't a real option as I don't think we could get permission to have a large-ish group of people wandering around a condemned site.

Any suggestions for dates?

I know I'm asking for a lot of input, but this will turn out a whole lot better of people are involved in creating the event.
