If you’ve ever followed a diet under 1200 calories, you need to read this.

Not because I want you to feel bad about it.
Because I want you to understand what actually happened to your body.
And why perimenopause feels harder than it should.

The fitness industry sold you restriction in your 30s.
Then watched you enter your 40s with compromised bone density, a suppressed metabolism, and a body that no longer responds the way it used to.

And now they want to sell you the fix.
Here’s what they never explained.

There is a clinical threshold for underfuelling called Low Energy Availability (LEA). Below 30 calories per kilogram of fat free mass per day, your body stops prioritising bone remodelling, hormonal function and metabolic regulation.

Most women on sub-1200 calorie plans were well below it.
In younger women, LEA shows up as a lost period, a clear warning sign.

In women over 40 with irregular cycles? It gets written off as perimenopause.
The warning sign disappears.
The damage continues undetected.

You were never the problem. The prescription was.

The fix starts with knowing your actual numbers, your real energy requirement, your lean mass, your metabolic baseline.

The Midlife Macro Calculator gives you exactly that.

I spent 20 years calculating my clients’ macros by hand.

Because midlife women don’t fit into a formula.

Every client’s DEXA scan, lean mass, hormonal life stage - recalculated from scratch, every time something changed.

Then I paid $160 a month for an app that was supposed to fix it.
It still didn’t have half the targets I needed.

So I cancelled it. And built the calculator I wish had existed the entire time.

It doesn’t exist anywhere else, because nobody else has spent two decades proving, by hand, that midlife women need something different.

I have.
So I built it.
And I made it free.

Describe your job but make it sound illegal. 🔪

👩🏻‍💼I pass electrical currents through your body, wrap you in metal tape, mark you up with a Sharpie and pinch your fat.

🔬Then I analyse the data and tell you exactly what to eat.

⚖️ Down to the gram.

‼️ Specific to your hormones, your lean mass, your age.

All completely legal.
All evidence-based.
All to protect your muscle, your bones and your metabolic health through perimenopause.

I’ve taken the midlife female, applied the science, tested it on hundreds of women in clinical practice and now made my Midlife Macro Calculator completely FREE for you to access.

Five minutes.
Personalised.
Clinical methodology.
No 25-year-old male athlete formulas here.
🔪Not charging for it SHOULD BE illegal.

I don’t advertise for mentoring. I rarely have time to take it on.

But every now and then I see a little bit of my earlier self in a practitioner - someone with real clinical depth, genuine passion, and the drive to build something meaningful. And I can’t not help them get there faster than I did.

I’ve been a dietitian since 2009. One of the biggest gaps between studying and practice is that nobody teaches you how to market yourself, protect your worth, or build a business around your expertise.

Dietitians are some of the most passionate, self-giving professionals I’ve ever encountered, and the industry is slow to recognise that.

I didn’t want to keep watching brilliant practitioners get worn down by a system that undervalues them.

So I became the mentor I never had.

Paris came to me already experienced - women’s health, sports nutrition, years in the field. She didn’t need more clinical knowledge. She needed clarity on her values, her vision, and the life she actually wanted to lead. Then we built a business that reflected that.

In 6 months she launched an online course, an e-book, and a nutrition program. Her practice is now running profitably.

Go follow her 👉 Paris Dixon | Running, Triathlon and Hyrox Sports Dietitian

She is exactly the kind of practitioner you want in your corner if you’re an active female or endurance athlete serious about body composition and performance nutrition.

This is a paid mentorship.
I take on very few people.

Insulin sensitivity. Not cortisol.🔥

That’s what I want you thinking every time you have the opportunity to lift your intensity.

Because the cortisol conversation around HIIT and perimenopause has gotten so distorted that women are actively avoiding one of the most powerful things they can do for their body in midlife.

Here’s what the research actually shows:
→ The cortisol spike from a hard effort clears within 2 hours
→ The improvement in how your body handles carbs and fat? That stays
→ 3 weeks of HIIT produces measurable improvements in blood sugar, cholesterol, and belly fat
→ Your body actually becomes better at burning fat after a high intensity session than a steady walk
→ Do it consistently and your baseline stress hormones come down, not up

Chronic stress hormones are the problem. Those come from years of undereating, poor sleep, and carrying unmanaged life load.

A hard 10-second effort, repeated a few times - that’s a signal your body knows exactly how to respond to.

🔥Each bout is meant to feel hard. That’s the point.
🔥That burn is your muscles demanding fuel, your metabolism shifting gears, your body doing exactly what it’s built to do.
🔥Take it one interval at a time.

In midlife, intensity isn’t something to fear. It’s something to use.

Last night I was invited to present to Thrive After 40 program.

I’ve been a dietitian since 2009. An exercise physiologist since 2005. I was talking about perimenopause when most of my colleagues thought it was career suicide… And I was still updating my slides hours before I presented.

👉 True story.

Not because I don’t know the material.
But because the material keeps moving.

A lot of women are receiving advice that isn’t wrong.

👉 It’s just outdated.

You are not failing a system that was designed for you. You are following a system that was never updated to reflect your physiology.

Some practitioners simply choose not to update their knowledge, attitude, or practice. Which is fine if that’s the hole they want to stay stuck in, it’s just a disservice to women’s health.

A big thank you to the Thrive After 40 members who upskilled their knowledge with evidence-based midlife nutrition 🙏🏻

If you support women in midlife and need an expert to speak to nutrition and physiology for perimenopause, DM me.
