Today was library day, and the children were extremely enthusiastic about returning our books and viewing our artwork on display.
They enjoy utilising the interactive screens to track our path through the shops, engaging with ICTs in personally meaningful ways.
Throughout the shops, we discussed the various stores we saw and our personal connection to the space.

Kindergarten 1 Puppet Theatre Project
The children in Kindergarten 1 have recently shown a strong interest in storytelling, dramatic play, and performing for their friends. Following their curiosity, they have begun creating their very own Puppet Theatre!
Through this project, the children have been sharing ideas, designing puppets, creating props, and working together to bring their stories to life. This experience encourages creativity, communication, problem-solving, and collaboration while supporting the development of confidence and self-expression.
We canβt wait to see the wonderful performances our young storytellers create as their Puppet Theatre project continues to evolve! π

πΏ Bush Tucker with Aunty Kaiyu πΏ
Our Kindergarten children enjoyed a special Bush Tucker experience with Aunty Kaiyu, learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, indigenous plants, and the importance of caring for Country.
Through planting and exploring our Bush Tucker Garden, the children strengthened their connection with nature, developed their understanding of sustainability, and learned from the rich knowledge and stories shared by Aunty Kaiyu.
Thank you, Aunty Kaiyu, for supporting our childrenβs journey of learning, respect, and connection to Country.

Today marked a very special day for our Kindergarten students, who were overjoyed to visit our local library. This trip was extra special, as it provided them with the opportunity to share their creative talents with the community by displaying their artwork, which will remain on show until the beginning of July.

This morning Tiny Tots enjoyed a picnic in our Bush Tucker Garden. They listened to the sounds of the rain while eating before going to explore the new additions. They carefully tended to the covered garden space, ensuring these plant babies also received water. This was a wonderful extension from their nasturtium garden in their own yard. Thank you for caring for natural spaces!

This week we began the creation of Kabul our carpet snake. Kabul has a powerful presence within the Quandamooka histories. We have strong connections with our neighbouring Quandamooka community and are excited to create a woven art piece to celebrate this relationship.
We invite our families and community members to weave their thread into this project.

This week we celebrated Mabo Day with a visit from the amazing Wagga Torres Strait Island Dance Company. During their visit they shared the story of the heroic Eddie Mabo who taught people to share and care for the land. We sung and danced along to songs that were both familiar and new including Taba Naba and Tibi Warra.
Thank you for sharing your culture and stories with us!

This morning we sat down and read our new books, Zip and the Tiny Sprouts: Is It Done Yet? We chatted about what we can do when itβs hard to be patient and agreed we could dance or play games.
Zip and the Tiny Sprouts are part of our new social-emotional program through Tiny Souls. Through this program, educators and families can access a library of online resources including podcasts, stories, and songs! Please visit our library upstairs to check out our cuddly Zip toy and the books next time youβre in. You can collect a flyer with a QR code in our foyer to keep the learning happening at home.

π€β€οΈππππ€ At Green Leaves Early Learning, weβre proudly All In for National Reconciliation Week 2026 π€β€οΈππππ€
From 27 May to 3 June, we come together to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every day.
Reconciliation starts with all of us, including our youngest learners. Through moments of curiosity, storytelling, music, art and connection, children begin to build understanding, respect and a sense of belonging.
Because every small conversation, shared experience and learning moment helps us to build towards a more inclusive future, together.
