Some families need child care that looks a little different.

In Home Care is a flexible child care option delivered in the family’s own home. It may support families who cannot access standard child care because of things like non-standard work hours, location challenges, limited local vacancies, or complex family or child needs.

For eligible families, In Home Care can help children feel safe and supported in a familiar environment, while giving parents and carers access to care that better fits their circumstances.

Enhance In Home Care works with families and educators to support care arrangements that are practical, respectful and child-focused.

Changes to the Disability Standards for Education came into effect on 1 August 2026. The Standards now apply to most early childhood education and care services, including Family Day Care and In Home Care.
The amendments provide clearer guidance about supporting children with disability to access and participate in education and care.
This includes listening to families, understanding each child’s needs, removing barriers and making reasonable adjustments where required.
Enhance has reviewed the amendments alongside our current policies and practices. We will continue keeping our Family Day Care and In Home Care educators informed, including educators supporting children and families with complex care needs.

National Farm Safety Week 2026 runs 19–25 July 2026 and presents a great opportunity for home-based educators servicing rural and remote families to pause and reflect on current safety practices. This years theme led by Farmsafe Australia, "Set the Standard: Show 'em how it's done" aims to draw attention to the power of role modeling, leadership, and the everyday decisions that shape what is considered a "safe normal" on farms.

💛 A quick, friendly note for our Enhance educators and families!
We wanted to share an upcoming update to help you keep things calm and comfortable in your homes on Monday, 27 July 2026.
At 2:00 pm, a national test of the AusAlert system will take place. This means compatible mobile phones, tablets, and smartwatches will receive a test message, vibrate, and make a loud alarm sound for about 10 seconds.
Because this bypasses silent mode, it could easily startle young children, interrupt scheduled nap times, or cause distress for children with sensory or communication needs.
To prevent any sudden disruptions, you can temporarily turn your devices off or switch them to aeroplane mode during this window.
Sharing a quick, calm explanation with older children beforehand can also help them feel safe and reassured!

Supporting confident, capable educators starts with strong foundations.
This week, our educators are engaging in Foundations of Positive Behaviour Guidance — a professional learning session focused on practical, everyday strategies that make a real difference in care environments.
This session explores:
• understanding behaviour as communication
• building strong relationships and connection
• supporting emotional development through co-regulation
• reflecting on inclusive and ethical practice
At Enhance, we don’t just connect educators with families. We invest in ongoing learning, mentoring and program support to help educators feel confident in their role and deliver high-quality care.
Because when educators feel supported, children thrive.

A new financial year means your child’s allowable absences have reset. 🔄
From 1 July, families using Child Care Subsidy receive a new set of 42 allowable absence days per child for the 2026–27 financial year.

Allowable absences can help when your child is away from care on a booked day, such as for sickness, family time, holidays or other reasons.

Families can check their year-to-date absence count:
• in their Centrelink online account through myGov
• on the Express Plus Centrelink mobile app

For more information, visit the Services Australia website or speak with your educator if you have questions about your booked care days.
