Happy International Womens Day! 🫢🧑

Thank you to all the women who elevate this ancient tradition of Yoga πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ

At Soul Studies, we pride ourselves on honouring the ancient truths and practices in our teachings.

Pranayama is a practice of getting familiar with your life force energy through the vehicle of the breath. Pranayama is the most direct way to shift one's Prana. It is paramount that all Yoga teachers understand how to teach Pranayama correctly and respectfully to the ancient teachings.

We are so so deeply grateful to have Jacinta on board for our next Embodied Philosophy training in February.

Meet Jacinta:
Jacinta’s wealth of wisdom and life experience in Yogic culture is what makes her so unique. From celibate Yogini in Ashrams in India to becoming a mother, small business owner and now grandmother. Jacinta teaches lectures from such a real, no-fluff, authentic place that is tangible for anyone from all walks of life to understand.

Jacinta read her first yoga book aged 12 and soon began practicing. She was a Raja Yogini in India from aged 19 to 24 and has since trained in a variety of styles including Sivananda, Iyengar, Kriya Yoga and Ta**ra. She has a passion for spiritual growth as well as physical and mental well being. As a mother and grandmother Jacinta keeps a fresh outlook on life and brings this inspiration into her practice.

For 35 years, Jacinta has been working as a consultant and facilitating workshops and trainings as a Naturopath, Herbalist, Massage Therapist, Yoga teacher and Ayurvedic Consultant. She continues to teach Yoga trainings, teaching asana, pranayama, meditation, philosophy, women’s health and Ayurveda.

As a Yoga teacher, it can be challenging to weave Yogic philosophy and the wisdom of the ancient teachings into class skilfully.

Our next training in February Embodied Philosophy with guest teacher Jacinta McEwen will dive into how to achieve this successfully.

In the meantime, here are 3 tips that can help! πŸ™Œ

1. Teach what you know - to really embody the wisdom of the teachings you must fully understand what you are teaching!

2. Keep it simple - the fewer words the better. Give students the time to soak in your words.

3. Speak to what is going on in the world - natural disasters etc. If it feels authentic offer support during challenging times using the knowledge you know from yogic philosophy.

Do you ever question the purpose of your practice?

Or how does one sequence or practice transform the way you feel?

While the poses within a sequence appear to only an outward expression, they can be the door to the inner temple.

The practice invites us to stand at the door, to paint the structure layer by layer using alignment cues that inform the superficial to deep layers, interoceptive and reflective cues to digest and assimilate our experience.

We steep our attention through the layers so we can access our inner sanctuary, our inner temple.

Learn more about the language and intention behind cues in our sequencing module in November!
