Doesn’t it just make you want to be grass? 4mm of rain yesterday and now it’s all perky, and greeting the day with green sparkles and “Hello, How’s it?”

Did the end of term 1 smash you? Even so, you made it - so well done you! I hope you got a break.
But if you’re concerned about your teen’s struggles those thoughts probably won't go away easily. The second best thing you can do to improve their writing during these holidays is to get them to write a really basic journal. Just bullet points for a few days. Then random sentences. Then start adding more detail. No pressure, no assessment, just noticing what they see, think and do. Even just a comment on the game they’re obsessed with. Just Write.
Of course the best thing is to schedule some sessions with me - but take it one step at a time.
For now, enjoy the rest of the holidays break. Rest. Recharge. You've earned it.

Everyone knows The Writers' Schoolhouse helps high school students progressing towards their ATAR. But do you know the other people I help?
I’ve been working with IB students for 5 years, helping them with writing tasks from English to Psychology, Dance to TOK.
I help people transitioning to university who are discovering the gap between high school and uni is bigger than they imagined.
I support people doing the Masters or PhD, from planning a thesis through to editing drafts, responding to supervisor feedback and preparing for journal publication.
I work with neurodiverse teens on more than just their school tasks as we collaboratively build the executive function skills that make school more manageable.
And I work with people writing family histories or books.
If you’re looking for help on any of those areas, or something else you suspect I might know about, I’d love to chat about ways I can help. Yes, these days I even help with physics... shhh I hate physics.

This International Women’s Day I looked back over my recent read/listens … I love the stories women tell. If you can make time on this rainy Sunday, I recommend any and all of these. My wish list is full of so many more because every day we continue to write and imagine new worlds into being… some are subversive, some safe, all real. I’d love to help you write yours 💜🤍💚

I'm Wendy and for more than five years I've been helping Brisbane teenagers succeed in high school.
I know that every student needs a slightly different approach to solve similar issues, so all sessions are tailored to meet exactly what your teen needs. No fixed curriculum, and definitely no “let’s just do your homework.”
Learning with me means support with school tasks and learning the basics they've missed. It means seeing how what they're learning fits with life, because I haven't only worked with writers. I've worked in STEM research, engineering, business management, and as an anthropologist.
So if you’re looking for a different way to help your teen succeed in high school, why not message me now so we can talk about ways to help them think differently about succeeding in school.

“He thinks he’s still on holidays and school’s just fun social time.” That’s what one parent said to me this week, and they’re not wrong. Does term 1 2026 feel weird in your family too?
But what do you do? Homework discussions turn into arguments. They roll their eyes when you offer suggestions. They insist they're "fine" when clearly they're not.
Whether your teen is adjusting to a new grade or new school or losing their brain because, well, puberty and growth spurts, The Writers' Schoolhouse can help. They might listen to me (might, let’s be honest they’re teens so no guarantees). They might just be waiting for someone different to tell them it’s time to get going. They might just be waiting for someone to show them how to start. And if the issues are more fundamental then we go back to basics and work out how to write a sentence, how to write a paragraph, and how to write an essay. Send me a message and let’s talk about ways I can help - limited spots available now.

Week 2’s nearly over, is your teen already drowning? New subjects, new teachers, new expectations. Due dates still tba. Materials hidden across multiple platforms. And they haven’t even lost any files yet!
You want to help, but how? 🤷♀️
The Writers’ Schoolhouse helps teens get organised and set schedules, working out what’s needed in an environment where there are no dumb questions. Whether they’re new to high school, moving into senior years, or working through Grade 12 assessments, I can help.
School success isn’t just about writing good essays. It’s about organising, planning, and managing everything before chaos strikes. There are ways to help.
