Year 12 Student Leader, Shae K is one of the first group of student advisors to be invited to join the Health Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC).

Each student brings their own motivation and unique perspective to the role, providing valuable insight to the committee’s work. Following each meeting, students connect with their school-based mentors to reflect on discussions, continue learning and further develop their contribution to the HREC.

With the support and mentoring of HREC members, the student advisors will help review consumer-facing materials and provide feedback from a young person’s perspective, with a particular focus on child and adolescent information sheets.

The Children's Health Queensland (CHQ) HREC has become the first paediatric HREC in Australia to include school-aged young people on the committee - strengthening our commitment to ensuring children’s voices, opinions and perspectives are heard.

Congratulation to Shae on helping to shape this important initiative for all young people. In Term 4, the group of student advisors will hand over to a new group of Year 11 students who will step into the role in 2027.

Our school community was honoured to attend the Anzac Day Dawn Service in Brisbane City this morning.

With our Principal Peter and Assistant Principal Sean, students stood together in remembrance—acknowledging the bravery and sacrifice of those who have served.

Thank you to our students for the way you represented our school with pride and respect.

Lest we forget.

A huge thank you to all the wonderful families who joined us for Open Day this morning! It was fantastic to welcome so many new faces to The Industry School and share what makes our approach deliberately different.

Our incredible panel of young people did an outstanding job answering questions and sharing their experiences, offering an authentic glimpse into life at our school.

We were also thrilled to be joined by our valued industry partners — Bunnings Trade, Bosch, Umart, HIA, Energy Skills Qld, CSQ, JPIHQ and Riviera Australia — who highlighted how they work alongside The Industry School to create personalised, real‑world pathways for our young people.

As Cooper in Year 12 perfectly summed it up: “The Industry School sets you up for life!”

It was a morning full of connection, great conversation, and strong community. Thank you for being part of it 💚

On March 12 we ran our “On the Tools – Tool Safety Day” with our Rookies from The Industry School Brisbane, hosted at the Kedron Lions Juniors Football Club.

The day was designed to give students a hands-on introduction to tools, safety and the practical skills that underpin careers in the trades. Under the guidance of industry professionals, students had the opportunity to get on the tools, learn safe operating practices and start building the confidence needed for real work environments.

A huge thank you to Jarrod Pleass , Bunnings Trade and the staff from Bunnings Newstead for supporting the day and keeping everyone fueled with a BBQ lunch, as well as welcoming our students into the broader trade community with some Bunnings Trade merch.

We were also fortunate to have Lewis Brewer & Schimke Matthew from Bosch Professional Power Tools and Accessories supporting the sessions and sharing practical insights around tool use, safety and industry expectations.

Experiences like this matter. When young people can see the tools, try the tools and speak with people already working in the industry, it helps turn curiosity into real career pathways.

At The Industry School, our focus is connecting education with industry so students can build the skills, confidence and networks needed to move into apprenticeships and meaningful careers.

A big thank you to all staff, industry partners and the students who got involved. The enthusiasm across the day was fantastic to see.

The future of the trades is looking strong. 🔧

Recently our Rookies enjoyed two exciting excursions as part of our Rookies Program, designed to broaden their exposure to a variety of industry options.

First up was a visit to J & P Richardson, where our Rookies learned all about traffic lights and discovered how being under the influence of drugs or alcohol can impact vision. They also received a full behind-the-scenes tour, including the welding area for switchboards.

Next, our Rookies headed to the Marina at River Stage. Here, they explored how different trades contribute to boat building and gained valuable insight into the many career pathways available in the marine sector.

Terrific exposure and hands-on learning for our Rookies as they explore their future possibilities! ⚡️⚓️
