This month, our educators participated in a fun Sensory Tray Challenge where they created small world learning experiences for the children while showcasing their creativity. These engaging experiences encouraged children’s imagination, exploration and collaborative play. The challenge also supported LEAD Childcare in achieving outcomes within Quality Area 3 – Physical Environment and Quality Area 5 – Relationships with Children by creating inviting learning spaces and strengthening meaningful interactions and connections with children.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, we recognise that the environment acts as the “third teacher”, thoughtfully designed to inspire curiosity, encourage discovery and support children’s learning through play. By providing engaging and intentional environments, children are empowered to explore, create and develop a strong sense of belonging.

Today our Kindergarten children enjoyed a fun and creative “Sip and Paint” experience. Before painting, the children made their own fresh orange juice by squeezing oranges, helping to develop their fine motor skills and independence. They thoroughly enjoyed sipping their homemade juice while expressing their creativity through painting. This engaging experience encouraged creativity, sensory exploration, and conversations about healthy foods while providing a relaxing and enjoyable social activity for the children. 🍊🎨🧃
This week during our Kindy Science lesson with Miss Camille, the children continued their exploration of the human body, focusing on skeletons and blood. Together, they learned how bones support and protect our bodies. Miss Camille shared pictures of different animals, and the children worked collaboratively to identify whether each animal had an exoskeleton or an internal skeleton.
The Kindergarteners also discovered the important role blood plays in keeping our bodies healthy, with a special focus on how white blood cells help fight germs and protect us from illness, particularly during the winter season.
To conclude the lesson, the children revisited the locations of different organs in the body and enthusiastically sang the organ song, reinforcing their learning in a fun and engaging way.
Today at LEAD Childcare Tingalpa we celebrated Reconciliation Week through a variety of meaningful learning experiences. The children engaged in activities that promoted respect, inclusion, and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Miss Kirsty read the Dreamtime story “The Rainbow Serpent” with the children, encouraging conversations about culture and storytelling. A special thank you to Lisamarie for sharing her culture and providing beautiful resources for the children to explore and learn from.
Today at LEAD Childcare Tingalpa, we observed National Sorry Day. The children were invited to participate in a variety of meaningful learning experiences, including handprint painting and collage activities to express connection, belonging, and respect. Miss Amanda also shared an Acknowledgement of Country with her nursery children, helping to introduce and foster an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and traditions from an early age.

At LEAD Childcare Tingalpa, we believe children learn best through active, hands-on play. Throughout Term 2 in the toddler space, our focus on transportation encourages children to explore movement, build confidence, and develop their gross motor skills through fun and engaging experiences. We love seeing the children’s curiosity and imagination come to life as they learn through play every day.
