ANXIETY & WORRY | The importance of a shared language and teamwork between school and home was the strong thread at our professional learning event today: “Working with Families of Anxious Children”.

A big thank you to our engaged hybrid audience of 70+ and to our amazing guest speakers Dr Danielle Einstein, Dr Kaylene Henderson, Hannah Richards and Luke Grayndler for your wisdom, practical guidance and empathy for students, families and schools, who are grappling with often complex situations when it comes to addressing anxiety and worry.

Today’s event is part of our ongoing series - Parent Engagement Connect - which tackles topical issues through the lens of schools and families working in partnership, for the benefit of our kids.

Big thanks to our team for all the behind the scenes work pulling this event together and to our colleagues at Independent Schools Queensland for their event support.

Thanks as well to to the QIS Parents Network board for your belief in our innovative parent engagement work.

JOINT ADVOCACY | The annual ICPA Qld conference is a wonderful opportunity for schools and education stakeholders to listen to the passionate advocacy of rural and remote families.

The QIS Parents Network team has enjoyed collaborating with our colleagues from Catholic School Parents Queensland, Independent Schools Queensland and Catholic Education Queensland, many fellow education stakeholders and staff from the 29 independent schools in attendance at this year's conference.

We congratulate Wendy Henning on her re-election as ICPA QLD INC - Isolated Children’s Parents’ Association Queensland Inc President for another year and to the wider State Council for their commitment to rural and remote families.

Instead of trying to do more, focus on being fully present in two places: the car and the end of the day.

These are prime time for teenagers.
Protect these moments from screens. Save your energy for them.

This is where walls come down, stories spill out, and some of the most important parenting happens.

MASTERING PARENT ENGAGEMENT | We are delighted to be supporting 28 Queensland independent schools in 2026 on their parent engagement journeys.

Today we celebrate Concordia Lutheran College (Official) 🌟

This much-loved independent boarding school in Toowoomba has been making small but powerful tweaks to bring their families closer, which has become even more significant in the lead up to a very important moment in the school's history: merging 3 geographically separate schools onto one cohesive K-12 campus. That combined campus will come to life in mid 2026.

The QIS Parents Network team (Amanda Watt and Dr Linda Evans) spent time on site today with Concordia's dedicated parent engagement leadership team to discuss their progress, workshop ideas and celebrate their wins. The team have achieved so much and have many wonderful future-focused ideas in train.

We look forward to continuing to work alongside this school community in the years ahead.
