At Little Wishes, we believe in learning from nature and developing an understanding of the natural cycles that support life, growth and sustainability.

We are pleased to welcome our new chickens to the Little Wishes family. They are settling into their new home, where they can explore, forage and enjoy their surroundings.

We have also introduced new worm farms to support our gardens through natural composting and sustainable practices. These provide children with opportunities to observe how natural cycles work together, from food scraps and organic matter through to healthy soil and growing plants.

In addition, we have established new herb gardens within our nursery’s outdoor environment, creating a wonderful space for children to explore nature, observe plant growth and develop an understanding of where food comes from.

Together, our chickens, worm farms and herb gardens provide meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that encourage children to connect with nature, understand natural cycles and develop an appreciation for caring for our environment🌱

One picture, so much learning! ✨

A simple stack of buckets, shovels and tools can spark endless opportunities for learning, discovery and creativity! 🪣

Through play, children are developing their coordination, problem-solving skills, communication, collaboration and confidence, all while having fun and making their own discoveries. 💛

Because sometimes, the simplest resources create the biggest learning moments!

🐄🌾 Kindergarten Farm Adventure! 🌾🐑

Extending on our Farm Unit learning in the classroom, our Kindergarten children jumped on the bus and headed to Trevena Glen Farm for an exciting day of hands-on learning and exploration! 🚌

The children had so much fun getting up close with the animals, learning more about farm life, and putting their classroom learning into practice. From engaging with the animals to running, playing and exploring the farm, there were plenty of opportunities for curiosity, discovery and joyful learning. 🐓

What a wonderful way to extend our learning beyond the classroom and into the real world! 💚🌱

We love connecting with our community, and today was a wonderful opportunity to do just that.

Today, Centre Director, Jacinta and Room Leaders, Grace and Claudia had the pleasure of connecting with the team at Camp Hill Outside School Hours Care, a renowned service known for authentic play and application of playwork principles in its daily programs and practices. A big thank you to the team for welcoming us so warmly, sharing your inspiring approach to supporting children through play, and showing us around your spectacular environment.

We loved learning about your commitment to a playwork approach, where children are empowered to lead their own play experiences.

We learnt about how the environment provides children with opportunities to take considered risks, solve problems, and take on responsibility. By encouraging agency in a safe and supportive environment, children develop confidence, resilience, and an understanding of natural consequences.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and passion with us. We always value the opportunity to connect with others in our community, learn from one another, and continue growing together. 🌿💚

As a family owned, family involved early learning service, we see our on-going commitment to 'pro-bono' advocacy a key part of navigating the future early learning sector.

The time has never been so important to be a voice for our amazing educators and teachers so they can deliver exceeding programs and outcomes for the children in our care.

Following two recent 'one on one' meetings with Federal and State departments, on Friday, we continued this 'family focused' advocacy with government bodies.

We know our greatest test is and always will be, the trust our families place in us to care for their most precious.

Today marks an important date in the protection and safeguarding of children, in over 40,000 organizations and businesses across Queensland.

At Little Wishes, child safety is paramount and the changes today fit seamlessly into our Three Pillars of Child Safety (Safe Operations, Safe Environments, Safe Culture).

Since early this year we have been liaising directly with the QFCC Team and the Regulatory Authority, providing 'front facing' input. On Friday our Approved Provider was an active participant in a meeting with the QFCC Commissioner to ensure Little Wishes remains at the forefront of these important changes.

Please take your time to click on the link and share it with friends and families.

Families can now expect to see these standards across many other child facing services, like play centres, photographers, tutors, sporting clubs, churches, government and dance studios.

Planned maintenance is part of our DNA at Little Wishes. We are proud of our long term relationships forged with local family owned contractors, including our local builder, electrician, gardener, playscaper, cleaner and plumber. They all align with our high standards and are on call as needed. Their support is greatly appreciated because providing a safe environment is fundamental at Little Wishes Carina and Little Wishes Chermside.

Safe Sleep Week at Little Wishes ❤️

This week we are recognising Safe Sleep Week and reaffirming our commitment to keeping every child in our care safe while they rest. At Little Wishes, our sleep practices are guided by the safe sleep recommendations from Red Nose Australia.

Last night our team came together for our annual safe sleep training, refreshing our knowledge and ensuring we continue to follow best practice when supporting children during rest times. Ongoing training helps our educators stay informed, confident, and consistent in creating a safe sleep environment for every child.

The safety and wellbeing of the children in our care is always our highest priority.
