Join us for a Parent & Carer Information Evening: Supporting Healthy Sleep in Adolescence — Thursday 27 August, 5:30pm at Kenmore State High School. Dr Peta Lilley and Carmen Spry from Lilley Place will share practical tips, targeted for our Year 7 and Year 11 students, on adolescent sleep, screens, routines and supporting positive change. All parents and carers welcome.

Parent-Teacher interviews are on Wednesday, 19th August from 2.00pm to 7.00pm and will be conducted online through Teams. To accommodate this, students will finish school at 1pm on Wednesday. Southern Cross Buses will be providing early pick-up from 1:10pm. If students normally catch a Brisbane City Council bus service we recommend that you look at Translink to see what buses they can catch to get home or make other arrangements.
We look forward to the important conversations to come on Wednesday afternoon/evening.

Last week, our Performing Arts Department proudly presented “Cabaret” – our annual showcase celebrating the incredible talents of some of our Music, Dance and Drama students in collaboration with our Hospitality Department. ✨🎭

Guests were welcomed with delicious canapés before enjoying a spectacular evening of performances, followed by a delicious two-course meal. 🍽️

Cabaret has become a much-anticipated event on our Performing Arts calendar, providing our students with the opportunity to share their creativity, passion and hard work with family, friends and the wider school community. 💫

And of course, thank you to our Music Support Group for organising a fantastic raffle each night. We are incredibly grateful to the many local businesses and families who generously donated prizes, helping make the raffle such a wonderful addition to the evening and supporting our Performing Arts program.

A huge congratulations to all of our talented performers, staff and Hospitality students who helped make the evening such a memorable celebration of the Arts. 💚

Our Working Bee will be held on Sunday 23 August at 8:30am until approximately midday. Why not make it a family outing and get behind the great work that Bruce Dymock and Jeff Wilmer do in improving the school’s environment.
Students and parents are invited to come and join us in helping to improve the environment at the School.
Where: Northern end of the oval (adjacent to S Block)
Participants are requested to wear suitable clothes including a hat and old closed-in shoes. Come for as long or short a period as you can spare. A light morning tea will be provided. 🙂🌿

The next Kenmore State School P&C Association Meeting will be held at 7.00pm on Tuesday 18th August 2026. This meeting will be in the Professional Learning Centre at KSHS.

Off the back of a very successful CEO Q&A Series in Term 2, we are pleased to see these opportunities continue this term, providing small groups of students with the chance to connect directly with accomplished leaders and learn from their experiences, challenges and career journeys.
Last Friday, students had the privilege of meeting Raylee Carruthers, Chief Operating Officer of Valenhold. Having previously led an ASX-listed company as CEO and now working as COO of a billion-dollar organisation, Raylee shared candid insights about leadership, careers, taking opportunities and navigating the challenges that come with both work and life.
Some of the key messages students took away from the conversation included:
📌 Keep an eye on the bigger picture – particularly when navigating competing priorities and work-life balance.
📌 You don't have to know everything to solve a problem – draw on the knowledge and strengths of the people in the room.
📌 Understand the people you lead – get to know what motivates them and how you can help them succeed.
📌 Take initiative and seek out opportunities rather than waiting for them to come to you.
📌 Use your network – there are often more people around you who can help, advise or connect you than you realise.
📌 Don't be afraid to reach out and connect. If there is something you want to learn, experience or pursue, sometimes the most important first step is simply to ask.
A wonderful opportunity for our students to hear firsthand that successful careers are rarely a straight line – and that curiosity, initiative, relationships, perspective and a willingness to do the hard things can open unexpected doors.
We look forward to welcoming more inspiring leaders and continuing the conversation throughout the term.

Thank you to the P&C Association for sponsoring a breakfast for all staff this morning and to the tuckshop for catering. The food was amazing!
