As the children focus on reusing and giving new life to materials, an already used piece of cardboard became a canvas for open-ended exploration. Sitting quietly and deeply engaged, the children experimented with dirt, brushing it across the cardboard and using pegs to clip and position them in different places. The children were free to explore, create and discover — demonstrating curiosity, concentration, creativity and fine motor skills.

Our children have been busy giving our garden a fresh start for spring! From removing weeds and planting new seeds to watering our flowers, the children have loved getting their hands dirty and caring for our outdoor space. We can’t wait to watch our garden grow and come to life throughout spring!

The Cotton Tree Jumper is now complete! After months of measuring, sewing, remeasuring and refining their work, the children proudly gifted the jumper to the Cotton Tree. The children have continued to delight in looking towards the tree and seeing their creation wrapped around it, keeping the tree warm.

As one year begins to draw to a close, families naturally start thinking about the next.

Children grow quickly in the early years. Their interests change, friendships deepen, confidence develops and, before we know it, they are ready for new experiences and challenges.

A new year brings change. But alongside that change, there is something equally important for young children: continuity, which gives these experiences time to deepen.

As children explore the yard they discover many animals that share our land, including grasshoppers, Elsa the water dragon, bees, and ladybugs. In the Atelier, they explored a range of materials to represent these animals and created displays for our Acknowledgement of Country tree.

Our educators and children had some fun with their hair recently to help raise awareness for Act for Kids and the incredible work they do to support children and families. From wild colours to wonderfully wacky styles, we’re proud to get a little crazy for such an important cause! Together, we can help spread awareness and support brighter futures for children.

Our Infant Studio children have been busy exploring their fine motor skills through play with connector blocks! From grasping and joining pieces to pulling them apart and experimenting with different ways to build, every little movement is helping strengthen coordination, concentration and problem-solving skills.

The children in the Kindergarten and Senior Studio turned one large cardboard box into an experience that lasted over 2 hours, with the addition of plastic screws, screwdrivers and child-safe cutting tools. While there was no specific end goal, the children enjoyed manipulating and experimenting with the tools while developing their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and control.
