The Senior and Kindergarten children have been working on a shared art mural project, exploring new art ideas connected to their families, community, and personal experiences. In these shared creative spaces, children practice patience, turn taking, and share stories that are meaningful to them—leaving traces of their identities and connections within the artwork.

The children have been collecting and experimenting with natural elements such as rocks, dry clay, soil and sand. By grinding rocks, crushing dried clay, and mixing different types of earth, they are uncovering a variety of textures, tones, and colours. As they explore, children are learning about transformation—how materials can change when they are broken, mixed, or combined with water. They have been discovering how the land offers its own rich and diverse palette, exploring its beauty and range of possibilities within the land around them.

The large loose parts library and big build experiences have provided meaningful opportunities for the Kindergarten and Senior Studio children to collaborate, share ideas, and work together towards common goals. These experiences encourage creativity, problem-solving, negotiation, and teamwork as children plan, adapt, and bring their ideas to life together.
