Our Junior Studio children have been exploring storytelling through clay, using their creativity to bring both imaginary adventures and real-life experiences to life. From magical creatures and made-up worlds to special memories—like spotting a beautiful rainbow on the way to Mother Duck —each creation tells a unique story. It's wonderful to see how children use art to express their ideas, memories, and imaginations in such meaningful ways.

The children in Kindergarten and Senior Studio have been exploring observational drawing, taking the time to slow down, look closely, and draw what they can see in their environment.
During our time at the digging patch, the children carefully observed the space around them, noticing the many different natural elements, textures, and objects. Although they were all sitting in the same spot, each child's drawing was unique, reflecting what stood out to them from their own perspective.

When people think about early childhood education, they often picture play.

Thinking.....

As the Kindergarten and Senior Studio children continue their exploration of bugs, they have begun researching their questions. After searching through the library, the children found two books they thought would help them learn more about the speed of different bugs. As they explored the books, they discovered insects and creatures they hadn't thought of before, along with lots of new information. Over the following days, the children continued returning to the books to refresh their knowledge, share what they had learned, and invite others to join in their research. We love seeing their curiosity and collaborative learning continue to grow!

Sometimes, all it takes is a different perspective.
By inviting children to explore mark making from new angles, we spark curiosity, encourage close observation, and inspire creative thinking. Whether they're looking up, down, through, or around an object, each viewpoint reveals something new to notice and represent. Providing opportunities to explore different perspectives helps children slow down, observe with intention, and discover that there is no single "right" way to see or create.

The Senior and Kindergarten children have been creating their own beads by carefully rolling strips of fabric and sewing them to secure the edges. The children have been using the handmade beads to create accessories for their many clothing designs.

There is a quiet emotional load that exists within early childhood education.

Not the loud or dramatic kind people often imagine, but the kind that can become so familiar within the profession that educators simply learn to carry it as part of their everyday work.

It is the constant stimulation.
The ongoing movement, conversations, questions, routines, and responsibilities that fill each day.
The responsibility of remaining emotionally available, calm, patient, nurturing, observant, and responsive for children throughout the day.

The children in our Junior Studio have been exploring the art of sewing, creating a collaborative sewing loom where the children can practise carefully threading needles in and out of hessian as they create together. Watching their individual stitches come together to transform and repurpose a shared piece of hessian has been a wonderful reminder of the creativity and collaboration that emerges through meaningful, hands-on experiences.
