🐬 Virginia Dolphins Swim Club 🐬

We have some very exciting news to share with our community.
Following an extensive recruitment and selection process, the Virginia State School Swimming Club Committee is delighted to announce Len Sterlin as our new Head Coach and Coaching Services Provider for 2026–2028.
And we genuinely couldn't be more excited about what comes next.

Meet Coach Len 🏊‍♂️
Len brings an extraordinary depth of swimming and coaching experience to Virginia Dolphins.

He is a Swimming Australia accredited Performance Coach and holds a Bachelor of Coaching and Physical Education, majoring in Swimming.

Across his coaching career, Len has developed swimmers from their earliest stages right through to State and National level competition. His swimmers have achieved success at Queensland and Australian Championships and have been selected for State and National teams and development programs.

Len himself has also been recognised for his contribution to swimming, receiving the Swimming Queensland Emerging Age National Coach Award, the Brisbane Swimming Association Service Award, and three National Junior Excellence ASCTA Awards.
But what impressed us most about Len wasn't simply his CV.

It was his philosophy about why children swim and why they keep swimming.
Len believes great coaching develops more than fast swimmers. His approach focuses on technique, character, confidence, team spirit and helping swimmers understand the purpose behind what they're doing.

He wants children to leave training feeling like they have achieved something.
That philosophy aligns beautifully with what we want Virginia Dolphins to be: a club where children can learn to swim, develop their ability, challenge themselves, compete if they choose to, make great friends and, most importantly, develop a lifelong love of swimming.
We think Len is going to be a wonderful fit for our Dolphins community and we can't wait for you all to meet him.

It's been a long wait, but we are finally getting close!
We are currently working towards Squad returning from Monday, 24 August, subject to final confirmation of pool availability.

Our Learn to Swim program is planned to return in Week 1 of Term 4, with further information about assessments, class levels, days and times to follow.

We'll provide confirmed commencement dates as soon as we are able.

With our return to the pool approaching, we are now welcoming registrations from both returning and new families for:

Whether you're a long-time Dolphin ready to get back in the water or a new family interested in joining our club, we'd love to hear from you.

Please note that Learn to Swim bookings are starting from a fresh, you will need to nominate your preferred times/classes!

Completing the registration will help us understand numbers and plan squad structures, Learn to Swim classes and staffing ahead of our return.

After a few months out of the water, there is a lot happening behind the scenes to get our club ready to go again.

Our squads returning to the water.
And hopefully plenty of familiar Dolphins and some new ones joining us on the pool deck.
