Like your room? Why not zoom!
-----------------------------------
Is your place just too cosy to leave, or driving somewhere for a lesson isn't your preference for whatever reason, then a zoom lesson might be for you.
If you have missed the video meeting revolution, recent times have shown it's evolved into a genuine option for the masses.
In a quirky music connection, "Zoomin'" has become more than part of an album and song title by the late great Aretha Franklin (Aretha released the album and the song titled "Who's zooming who?" in 1985. Warning: Big hair, Disco ahead!).
That's because the most popular service is called Zoom. Its seen to be easy to use, and they have free options.
If you would like to explore how we can zoom a lesson get in touch and I will take you through it. If you have a smart phone, pad, or portable with a mic and camera, and an internet connection, then you just need to sign up to zoom (free option if you like) and download the app.

Love listening to Music?
--------------------------
Music is such a big part of lives. We all enjoy listening to our favourite songs. They make us happy. They change our mood.
According to the Harvard Medical School "the human brain and nervous system is hard wired to distinguish music from noise and to respond to rhythm and repetition, tones and tuning". https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/music-and-health
When we listen to music our body adjusts levels of feel-good neurotransmitters and stress hormones.
Being able to play a musical instrument makes listening to music even better. We listen more deeply. Really listen.
If you'd like to enhance your musical appreciation skills, have a listen to the podcast Strong Songs. https://www.strongsongspodcast.com/
If you'd like to learn piano, flute, sax or clarinet message me.

Music exams this year?
-------------------------------
Exams are a great way of marking your progress, assist in setting goals, and provide valuable exam sitting experience for younger students.
They also give you a recognised qualification of your musical skills.
I have over 20 years experience in preparing students for AMEB grade exams.
I also recognise exams aren't for everybody, but if you are interested here is the current 2021 Brisbane Metro exam date schedule.
I'm happy to help with your musical needs. I teach piano, flute, sax and clarinet.

The Joy of playing an instrument
------------------------------------
My father was a woodworker. My room was above his workshop. I will always remember the smell of freshly cut timber, the sound of the saw and the hammer. And the joy his efforts created.
In some ways playing an instrument is the same.
Using your hands in creative purpose is a path to the spirit within, something in us that consoles, refreshes and inspires.
Learning to play an instrument gives that gift to you or those you care about.
Forever!
Start or continue your musical journey with me.
I teach piano, sax, flute and clarinet. Don't hesitate to get in touch.

The Value of learning to read music
——————————————————-
Symbols are everywhere. They communicate things. And systems of symbols are central to our modern world.
They are present in written language, computer programing, science, mathematics, and more.
And they are present in musical notation.
Learning to read music trains children to be able to apply new systems of symbols to the task at hand, while experiencing the joy of making their instrument make sounds to match!
If you would like your child to develop these skills consider music. Don't hesitate to contact me.
