🧗‍♀️ Moving, Climbing & Growing at BTP! 🌟

Our children have been busy developing their gross motor skills through lots of active outdoor play!

From kicking and chasing footballs , climbing and balancing their way through obstacle courses , running across the playground, to climbing up and sliding down the slide, every movement is helping our children build important physical skills.

Gross motor play supports the development of balance, coordination, strength, body awareness and spatial awareness. It also helps children develop confidence as they challenge themselves, take safe risks and discover what their bodies are capable of.

Activities such as kicking a ball also develop hand-eye and foot-eye coordination, while obstacle courses encourage children to problem-solve, follow a sequence and practise persistence when something is challenging.

Most importantly, the children are learning through play, being active and having lots of fun with their friends!

At BTP, our outdoor environment provides endless opportunities for children to move their bodies, challenge their abilities and build confidence every day.

🔬🧪 More Science Week Fun at BTP! 🧪🔬

Our little scientists have continued to explore, experiment and discover as part of our Science Week celebrations!

🧊 Rescue the Frozen Animals!
The Jelly Fish children eagerly explored animals trapped inside blocks of ice. We first encouraged them to use their hands to investigate the ice, discovering that it felt cold, hard, smooth and slippery.

Using paddle pop sticks and sponges, the children then took on the challenge of “rescuing” the animals from the ice! They experimented with different ways to break down and melt the ice, developing their problem-solving skills, persistence, sensory awareness and understanding of cause and effect.

🌈 Foamy Colour Science!
Our Stingrays children also got wonderfully messy with a science experiment using shaving foam, coloured paints and dishwashing liquid.

The children mixed the different materials together and watched with fascination as the colours changed, blended and spread throughout the foam. They were able to explore texture, colour mixing and how different materials react when combined.

Science Week is giving our children so many opportunities to ask questions, make predictions, experiment, investigate and learn through hands-on play. 🔍🧠

🔬🧪 SCIENCE WEEK HAS BEGUN AT BTP! 🧪🔬

What an exciting start to National Science Week! Our little scientists have already been busy experimenting, investigating, predicting and discovering through some amazing hands-on experiences. 🌋✨

🌋 Volcano Eruptions – The children created their very own volcanoes using vinegar and bicarbonate soda, watching with excitement as the chemical reaction caused their volcanoes to bubble, fizz and erupt! We talked about what we thought might happen before the experiment and then watched the reaction unfold.

🧫 Amazing Oobleck – Things got wonderfully messy as we made our own oobleck! The children explored its unusual texture and discovered how it can feel solid when squeezed or pressed but flow like a liquid when released. There were lots of curious hands getting involved!

These experiences are about so much more than having fun. Through hands-on science, our children are developing curiosity, problem-solving skills, communication, prediction, observation and an understanding of cause and effect.

And this is only the beginning! 🔍🧲🌈

We have plenty more exciting experiments, discoveries and scientific investigations planned throughout the week.

🌾🐾 Sensory Exploration Fun! 🐾🌾

This week the children enjoyed a hands-on sensory experience prepared by Miss Vanessa! They explored a variety of textures including uncooked rice, oats, spiral pasta and soft pompoms, using their hands to discover the differences between hard, soft, long and round materials. ✋✨

The children then added their imagination to the experience, using little animal toys to explore and "walk" across the different textures. 🐰🐻

A wonderful experience supporting sensory development, language, fine motor skills and imaginative play! 🌈💛

🎡 Happy EKKA Show Day! 🎡

Today, BTP Early Learning Centre is closed as we celebrate the Brisbane EKKA Show Holiday.

We hope all of our families have a wonderful day enjoying the festivities, spending quality time together, and making special memories.

We look forward to welcoming all of our children back tomorrow for another fun-filled day of learning, laughter and adventure! 💙🌟

🍝🌈 Spaghetti Sorting & Colour Matching Fun! 🌈🍝

Today our little learners had lots of fun developing their fine motor and thinking skills through a hands-on spaghetti activity! Using tongs, the children carefully picked up spaghetti pieces and placed them into cups—building hand strength, coordination, and concentration. 💪👐

We then added a colourful challenge! 🔴🟡🔵 The children matched the coloured tongs to the corresponding cups, practising colour recognition, problem-solving, and early cognitive skills.

With Miss Megan, we also counted the spaghetti pieces together, supporting one-to-one counting and early numeracy development. 🔢

So much learning, exploring and fun packed into one simple activity! ❤️💛💙

👖💙 Jeans for Genes Day 2026 💙👖

Today our children and educators proudly dressed in their favourite denim to support Jeans for Genes Day!

By wearing our jeans, we helped raise awareness for the important work being done to support children and families affected by genetic conditions. It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved while also taking the opportunity to talk with the children about kindness, inclusion, and helping others.

Thank you to all of our families and educators who joined in and wore their denim today. Together, we're helping spread awareness—one pair of jeans at a time!

🎨🖌️ Exploring Textures Through Art – Jellyfish Room 🖌️🎨

Our Jellyfish children enjoyed a wonderful activity of creative painting experience as they began exploring a variety of textures through art.

Using paint, the children were encouraged to freely express their ideas, experimenting with colours, brush strokes and different painting techniques. Open-ended art experiences like these foster creativity, imagination, fine motor development and self-expression, while giving each child the opportunity to create something uniquely their own.

It was wonderful to see the children's confidence grow as they explored, created and proudly shared their beautiful masterpieces. We can't wait to continue our texture exploration throughout the week! 🌈✨🖼️

✂️ Building Confidence with Scissor Skills! ✂️

Today, our Kindergarten children challenged themselves to cut carefully along black lines on cardboard, strengthening their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration and pencil grip.

It was wonderful to see each child approach the task with confidence, demonstrating increasing control and precision when using scissors. Experiences like these help develop the important pre-writing and self-help skills children need as they prepare for their transition to school.

We are so proud of the persistence, focus and determination shown by our little learners today—well done, Kindergarten! 🌟👏
