An open-ended painting invitation for our Kindy children to enjoy whenever inspiration struck 🎨🌿
Here at Plais, we have more one-on-one interactions by having small class structure, which in turn allows for stronger staff and child connections.
At Plais Early Learning, we believe that children thrive in a play-based learning environment, which will ignite participation, investigation, and decision-making of each child. Our Educational Team pledge to encourage and nurture all children's curiosity and confidence within themselves and their environment. Our Educational curriculum, which is influenced by theorist Jean Piaget, will ensure tha

🐄🐑 Farm Animal Sensory Play 🐖🐔
At Plaîs Early Learning, we value and celebrate each child’s unique interests. This week, our children’s curiosity about animals inspired our farm animal sensory tray, providing opportunities for exploration, imagination, and meaningful conversations.
By following children’s interests, our educators create engaging learning experiences that support curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning, in line with the EYLF and QKLG. 🌿✨

Exploration, discovery and creativity ✨
Our children were invited to investigate light, colour and reflection through this engaging light table provocation using translucent blocks, loose parts and mirrors. As they experimented with different shapes and materials, the children observed how light travelled through the coloured blocks, created shadows and changed the appearance of objects and reflections.
Experiences like these encourage children to develop early concepts in science, problem solving and spatial awareness while also supporting creativity, curiosity and sensory exploration through play.
The mirrors added another layer of discovery as children explored perspective, symmetry and reflection in new and exciting ways. 💡

As part of National Reconciliation Week, the children at Plaîs have been engaging in meaningful experiences that encourage curiosity, conversation and learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
Our Kindergarten children were especially proud of their handprint painting activity, which symbolised respect, kindness and working together. Their beautiful handprints carried the message, “Kind hands make happy friends,” reminding everyone of the importance of caring for one another, building positive relationships and creating a sense of belonging.
This year’s National Reconciliation Week theme, All In, was reflected throughout our Kindergarten classroom and across the service as we celebrated diversity and fostered an environment where every child felt included, valued and respected. We are proud to create spaces where learning about reconciliation can begin from an early age in meaningful and age-appropriate ways.

Our Date May Date Night was full of fun, laughter, and happy little moments. The children enjoyed a delicious dinner of spaghetti bolognese with yummy warm chocolates to cosy up before we turned up the music for a disco dance party packed with energetic moves and big smiles. To help everyone wind down afterwards, we relaxed together watching a variety of fun children’s shows. It was a wonderful evening filled with dancing, entertainment, and plenty of excitement!
Can’t wait for you all to join us for the next one in June!

The heavy rains brought a tiny caterpillar onto our pathway this morning 🐛🌧️
Concerned he might accidentally get stepped on, the children carefully helped rescue him and created a temporary safe space for him to rest until the rain eased.
During this experience, the children shared their thoughts and observations about what caterpillars like to eat, what they look like, and what they might grow into one day. Their curiosity sparked wonderful conversations about nature, living creatures and caring for the world around us.
Once the rain subsided, we safely returned our little visitor back to the garden 🌱

This week at Plaîs, our nursery children were invited to engage in a sensory and musical provocation as part of our learning for National Reconciliation Week.
Using a beautifully designed First Nations inspired cloth and clapping sticks, the children explored sound, rhythm, tempo and movement through play. They listened carefully to the different sounds they could create, experimented with fast and slow rhythms, and used their senses to explore texture and feeling.
Through meaningful experiences like these, we aim to create opportunities for children to build awareness, curiosity and respect for First Nation peoples, cultures and ways of knowing.
