π𧑠2026 House Points Update! π§‘π
What an incredible start to the year! With points now tallied after our Cross Country, Junior Athletics Carnival, and Senior Athletics Carnival, the race for the 2026 House Cup is heating up! π
π Thunderbolts β 1,227 points β‘
𧑠Shooting Stars β 1,156 points β
That's just 71 points separating our two houses! π²
A huge congratulations to every student who has participated, shown great sportsmanship, cheered on their teammates, and proudly represented their house. Every event, every effort and every point counts!
With plenty of opportunities still to come throughout the year, it's still anyone's trophy to win. Will the Thunderbolts hold onto their lead, or will the Shooting Stars make a stellar comeback? πβ‘
Keep showing our school values, giving your best, and earning those valuable house points. We can't wait to see how the competition unfolds!

π°HOT OFF THE PRESS π° CANNON HILL STATE SCHOOL IS #6
Recent media coverage has published a list of schools based on student behaviour data, placing Cannon Hill State School at number six. While the headline may attract attention, it doesn't tell the full story of what happens in our school every day- so we've decided to rewrite it.
We believe every student has the right to learn in a safe, respectful and orderly environment. Our staff have the right to work in one too. Protecting that right means we don't ignore behaviour that impacts others. We address it, respond to it, and record it.
Behaviour expectations only matter if they are consistently upheld. When behaviour falls short of those expectations, we work with students and families to understand what has happened, teach better choices and provide the support or consequences needed to help students move forward.
Accurate behaviour records are an important part of that process. They help us identify patterns, monitor the effectiveness of interventions and ensure decisions are based on evidence. Recording incidents isn't a sign of failure- it is a sign that we take our responsibility seriously.
Our behaviour data is not evidence of lower standards. It is evidence that we uphold them.
What won't appear in a ranking are the thousands of positive interactions that happen every day- between students, between staff and students, and with families.
It won't show:
β’ classrooms filled with engaged learners, making great progress in their learning;
β’ friendships built in the playground;
β’ students who consistently show responsibility, respect and safety;
β’ staff who patiently coach children through difficult moments; or
β’ families who work alongside us to help their children succeed.
Every day, the overwhelming majority of Cannon Hill State School students live our values of Curiosity, Collaboration, Inclusion, Integrity and Growth. These moments define Cannon Hill State School far more than a single statistic.
Like every school, we have students who sometimes make choices that don't meet our expectations. They are children, and learning how to regulate emotions, resolve conflict and make responsible decisions is part of growing up. Our role is to teach those skills while protecting the learning, safety and wellbeing of every other student.
If being number six reflects that we are prepared to have honest conversations, maintain standards and take action when behaviour is unacceptable, we'll happily wear that ranking. Although, if we're being honest... we're just a little disappointed we didn't make the top five!
At Cannon Hill State School, we won't lower our expectations simply to improve a statistic.
We remain committed to, and focused on, our vision of building an inclusive learning community where everyone belongs, grows, and achieves.
