What happens when the Pantry Drive boxes contain so many donations the only way to get everything in the shot is to jump up on a ladder?

Well, it takes a long time to put everything away!!

And that's a job Nat, Halina and the tuckshop crew are grateful to have to do.

The winning class for Week 3 was 4A and massive thanks to each and every family who put an extra item (or two) in their shopping trolley for us.

Pantry Drive 2026 is now officially over but we will gladly accept a packet of dry or tinned goods on the list at any time!

Thanks to Drakes Supermarkets for their continued support of the local community. And especially to everyone who has nominated Algester P&C as the recipient of their community dollars.

We know times are tough and with more people needing to work, the traditional business model (70s and 80s) of how school tuckshops run with volunteer input is becoming difficult to sustain.

Initiatives like Drakes' Community Dollars helps keep the menu variety and costs from rising.

So if you're out and about doing the groceries and you shop at Drakes, thank you for scanning the "MyDrakes" app before you pay for your purchase. This is what adds to the tally!

Thanks everyone for making a situation where the tuckshop crew had to take AGES to put everything away.

So much donated, so awesome, so grateful 🤩

2026 Pantry Drive is in its final week and we're looking forward to seeing who will win the friendly competition this week.

Last week's winners were 3C - so they'll be the ones enjoying a Quelch party this week (that is, a Quelch ice block for each person in the class) 🎉 🎉

It's the final day of the Fathers' Day stall today.

We'll be open from 8am and for the morning session to service the classes on today's schedule.

It's been wonderful to see the delight on the children's faces as they've chosen something special for their dads, granddads, uncles

And we've had stella support from the parents and carers who have generously given their time to help at the stall. Thank you to all 🙏

Thank you to everyone who has so far been able to support the 2026 Tuckshop Pantry Drive

Pantry Drive is a call out for families to donate non-perishable items to the tuckshop pantry

Things like:
**Dry goods like packets of spaghetti, pasta, mild taco seasoning
**Sauces like tomato sauce, BBQ sauce, pasta sauce (no spices), maple syrup
**Long life milk
**Tinned goods like pineapple slices, black beans, sliced beetroot, crushed/diced tomatoes
**Supplementary items like rolls of cling wrap or alfoil

If you're out and about at the shops and you can pop a spare packet of spaghetti or a tin of beetroot in the trolley for us, that would be much appreciated!

This is the timetable for the stall today. We open at 8am for before-school trade and will be manning the tables until 3:30pm

The stall had a great day on day 1 and there is still plenty of quality items available.

If your child is in one of these classes, they will visit the stall at the designated time.

Please ensure children have cash to make their purchases (items up to $10 each; average $5-$7)

Each child is to bring their own carry bag. Everyone is responsible for their own purchases and a carry bag helps ensure items are kept safe and undamaged.

There will be helpers to assist children and provide appropriate change where required. Children are reminded to choose carefully as there will be no swapping or back and forth once a purchase is complete.

EFTPOS is available at the before- and after-school sessions and parents and carers are welcome during those times.

The stall opens at 8am this morning and will close at 3:30pm this afternoon. Find us in G block (junior side of the school in between the temporary music room and the year 1 classrooms).

We look forward to seeing everyone at the stall and sharing the excitement to celebrate Dads, Granddads, Uncles, Mums-as-dads!

Sports day is coming this Thursday 3rd September

And to celebrate, the tuckshop is running a sausage sizzle for second break - $3ea with choice of tomato or bbq sauce.

Jelly cups also available to order via MunchMonitor or students can buy at the window for $1.40ea
