When we read with a child, we’re doing far more than sharing a story. We’re building the foundations for language, confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

Decades of research shows that children who are read to regularly:

Hearing rich varied language in books exposes children to far more words than everyday conversation alone. This growing vocabulary helps them understand, communicate and make sense of the world.

Today we got creative with a fun twist on painting 🎨

Instead of paintbrushes, we used scrunched-up baking paper! This simple change encouraged little hands to explore new textures while building fine motor skills and hand strength.

Sorting coloured dinosaurs into matching dishes using tongs is a great way to build fine motor skills and strengthen hand muscles, while also learning colour recognition.

Learning through play is always the best kind of learning 💛

We had Brodie visit us from Urban Utilities to teach us about water, the water cycle and pipes. We learnt there are only three things that go in down the toilet; poo, p*e and paper. We met Blocka who blocks the pipes and is made up of rubbish, nappies and wet wipes. He’s not a very good guy as he causes lots of trouble and is also a bit stinky.
