Not Just A Teacher Education
Building connected, confident and capable people through emotional intelligence.
We help schools, workplaces, families and individuals respond better under pressure, communicate with care and build relationships people can trust.
It was worth a try...
Here are 10 better ways to improve your communication with others.
1. Listen to understand, not just respond.
2. Remember the little things people tell you.
3. Put your phone away when people talk to you.
4. Validate feelings before giving advice. “I can see why that upset you” goes a long way.
5. Make natural eye contact
6. Ask follow-up questions.
7. Side-by-side chats feel safer than face-to-face.
8. Make people feel safe to be human around you.
9. Don’t turn every conversation back to yourself.
10. People feel body language before words, match their emotional energy.

Jack Riewoldt had a split second on live TV where it 's inner 14 year old self clocks it straight away. You'll then you see him look off, slow his breathing and give himself a moment before jumping back in.
That quick look away isn’t random. It’s a circuit breaker. When something catches you off guard, your brain wants to react fast. Looking away gives you a second to step out of that moment so you’re not feeding it more attention.
The slow breathing does the calming work. It tells youcould’ve gone either way.
David King makes the comment and you can see Jackr nervous system, “we’re alright.” Heart rate settles, tension drops and the urge to blurt something out fades a bit.
Put together, it buys you time. Instead of reacting on impulse, you create a small gap, then step back in with control. That’s what self regulation actually looks like. Not rehearsed, not perfect, just choosing not to react straight away.
Worth watching it again just for that small moment.
