💛🌈 To celebrate National Best Friends Day, our children took part in a special friendship-themed activity that encouraged teamwork, communication, and connection.

Each child chose a primary colour to paint onto their hand before finding friends to gently rub hands together and discover the new colours they could create. Some children even experimented with mixing three colours together!

This joyful experience sparked curiosity and creativity while providing a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the special friendships we share and the magic that happens when we work together. 🫶🎨

🎨✨ Our Pre-Kindergarten Brumbies have been getting creative with a unique painting experience this week!

Using mop heads and a selection of colourful paints, the children explored different ways to create art. Some used the mop heads as stamps, while others pretended to mop the tables, turning the experience into imaginative play.

By connecting two tables together, we created a large collaborative canvas that resulted in bright, colourful, and unique artwork. It was wonderful to see the Brumbies’ creativity, curiosity, and different ideas come to life! 🌈

👑✨ Our little designers have been getting creative at the Play-Doh table!

Using pink and blue Play-Doh, the children created beautiful dresses for some of their favourite princesses and decorated them with beads, stones, and beans, adding their own unique touches and designs.

This fun activity encouraged creativity, imagination, and fine motor development as the children rolled, shaped, and decorated their princess creations. We loved seeing each child’s individuality shine through in their designs! 💖

✏️📚 Our Brumbies have been busy exploring letters and early writing skills this week!

Through tracing letters, becoming “letter detectives”, and practising writing the letters in their names, the children have been developing letter recognition, fine motor skills, pencil grip, and confidence in writing.

These early literacy experiences play an important role in supporting a smooth transition to Kindergarten, helping children build the foundational skills and confidence needed for future learning. We love seeing our Brumbies’ enthusiasm as they discover that letters and writing can be fun! 🌟

🌋 Our Kindy scientists have been hard at work!

What began as building sand volcanoes in the sandpit evolved into an exciting project where the children designed and created their own erupting volcano using paper mâché, mud, and paint.

Along the way, they explored how volcanoes are formed, discussed lava and eruptions, and shared their ideas through artwork and discussions. The project culminated in a hands-on science experiment that brought their volcano to life!

A wonderful STEM experience that sparked curiosity, creativity, teamwork, and plenty of excitement. 🧪✨

Recently, our kindergarten children celebrated World Bee Day and took part in a wonderful learning experience all about these incredible little pollinators. We shared a thoughtful class discussion about the important role bees play in helping plants, flowers, fruits, and vegetables grow, and the children were fascinated to learn some amazing bee facts, including that bees have two stomachs – one for eating and one for storing nectar!

To extend their learning, the children engaged in a bee-themed sensory experience and a range of creative art activities. They worked collaboratively to paint and construct beehives, encouraging teamwork, communication, and shared creativity. The children also used chalk to outline bee shapes before bringing them to life with bright paints, patterns, and imaginative designs.

It was a joy to see such enthusiasm, curiosity, and creativity as the children explored, created, and learned together.

Last month, as part of our Weather Week exploration, the children took part in a fun and exciting cause-and-effect experiment all about wind 🌬️🌪️

Using blocks, the children worked together to build towers before testing how strong they were against some very powerful “gusts of wind” from the leaf blower! 💨🧱

There were lots of giggles and excitement as the towers came tumbling down, and the children were so engaged that they spent most of the morning experimenting, rebuilding, and trying again.

Through this hands-on experience, the children explored early science concepts such as force, gravity, and wind resistance while also developing problem-solving skills and engineering thinking as they tested ways to build stronger towers. The activity also supported gross motor development, coordination, sensory exploration, and collaborative play.

What a fun way to learn through play!

Last month in the Koalas Room, our babies had a lovely time celebrating World Bee Day! 🐝💛

The children explored yellow and black paint as they created their own special interpretations of bees using paint brushes. They enjoyed making marks, watching the colours blend, and experimenting with different movements as they brushed across the paper, supporting their developing grasp and control.

To extend on the learning, educators set up a sensory tuff tray filled with loose parts including soft tissue paper, pom poms, and an egg carton to represent a bee hive. The children busily placed the pom poms in and out of the egg carton, building their understanding of in-and-out play, while also strengthening their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. They loved exploring the tissue paper by scrunching, ripping, and feeling the different textures with their hands.

Using the ripped tissue paper, the children then created their very own bee wings through a simple collage activity. They enjoyed sticking and exploring the textures as they expressed their creativity through hands-on play.

Throughout the experience, the children developed their fine motor skills, sensory awareness, curiosity, and confidence through meaningful exploration and play-based learning 🌼✨

Today in the Koalas Room, our babies explored creativity and curiosity through a colourful painting experience inspired by our ongoing investigation of things that fly 🚀✨

Using Q-tips and bright paints, the children decorated their very own rocket, representing the colours of the universe through dabbing, dotting, and mark-making. This hands-on experience supported the development of fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and early writing movements in a fun and engaging way.

The vibrant colours encouraged sensory exploration as the children observed different textures and watched their marks appear on the paper. Through conversations about rockets and things that fly, the children were also introduced to new language and concepts, helping to build their understanding of the world around them.

There were lots of smiles, concentration, and creativity as the children confidently expressed themselves through colour and movement while trying something new 🌈💫

Last month, our junior toddlers in the Joeys room explored a meaningful community helpers learning experience inspired by International Nurses Day 🩺💛

The children engaged in a fun and interactive hospital role-play experience, using bandages, Band-Aids, dolls, soft toys, and a medical kit filled with tools such as stethoscopes and tweezers. They enthusiastically took on the roles of doctors and nurses, caring for their patients and exploring the different tools used to help others. The children were especially interested in the sticky texture of the Band-Aids and enjoyed pretending to help their friends feel better.

To extend on the learning the following day, educators added a variety of dress-ups to the play spaces, including doctor’s coats. The children excitedly explored the costumes, with some confidently dressing themselves and others seeking support from educators. Together, we spoke about the important roles community helpers play in keeping us safe and caring for others.

As part of this experience, the children also worked collaboratively on a special group drawing that was sent to the Emergency Department at The Prince Charles Hospital as a thank you to the nurses for the care they provide to our community.

Through these experiences, the children developed empathy, communication skills, independence, fine motor skills, imaginative play, and cooperative interactions through meaningful play-based learning ✨
