Miss Skye, our Pedagogical Coordinator, has received this wonderful Birdie’s Tree Resource Kit! Birdie’s Tree is a collection of resources designed to help children and families prepare for, cope with and recover from natural disasters and other disruptive events.

These beautiful books and resources provide opportunities for educators to support children in developing understanding, resilience and confidence when navigating challenging or unexpected situations.

We look forward to exploring these books with our children and incorporating them into our studios.

A few weeks ago, we celebrated Educators’ Day! 💛

This special day is all about recognising and celebrating the incredible hard work, dedication and care that our educators put into supporting and nurturing our children every day.

We are so lucky to have such a passionate and caring team who bring their knowledge, creativity and big hearts into the centre each day.

As one year begins to draw to a close, families naturally start thinking about the next.

Children grow quickly in the early years. Their interests change, friendships deepen, confidence develops and, before we know it, they are ready for new experiences and challenges.

A new year brings change. But alongside that change, there is something equally important for young children: continuity, which gives these experiences time to deepen.

Katy Bloodworth shares how we believe curriculum is found in these everyday experiences—in children’s questions, relationships, play, conversations, discoveries and the ideas they return to.

With the introduction of milk crates in the outdoor environments for the loose parts construction, we have witnessed that children’s creativity flourish. The children have been sharing their ideas and working collaboratively to created cruise ships, stages for their dances and theatrical performances, cafes, shops, the floor is lava game and more.

There is something quite special that happens when a child begins to truly know a place.

They know where their hat belongs. They recognise the morning rhythm. They know which educator will understand the look on their face when saying goodbye feels a little difficult. They return to the construction they started yesterday, continue a conversation with a friend, or pick up an idea that has been developing across several days.

Slowly, an early learning environment becomes their place.

On Monday the 3rd of August, we were visited again by Uncle Boomerang. The Kindergarten children continued to work on their collaborative art that tells the children’s stories. The children explored creating symbols to tell their stories. This has tied in beautifully with expanding the children’s knowledge of Aboriginal pedagogy and with the storytelling that the children have been doing with Miss Alice and in mark making with Miss Karen.
