What a first competition for the Aussie Pineapples! 🍍🤖

The Aussie Pineapples have completed their first live VEX V5 competition at the QLD | Sunnybank Showdown — and came away second overall! 🥈

The day was about much more than the result. Competing on a full field against other robots gave the team valuable insight into strategy and where they can improve ahead of representing Australia in Tokyo this January. They also received feedback on their engineering notebook, took part in a practice judging session and gained valuable hands-on competition experience.

After the qualification rounds, the Aussie Pineapples were selected by the first-placed high school team to join them in the finals. Their alliance ultimately finished second, beaten by an alliance of two university teams.

There are already plans to rebuild the robot faster and stronger as preparations continue for the 2027 ASIJ VEX V5 Robotics Competition Tournament in Tokyo. 🇦🇺🇯🇵

🇵🇭 From classrooms to coastlines | Philippines 2026

After an incredible week in Cavite, our Philippines team wrapped up the professional exchange component of their program and swapped the classrooms for the islands, flying south to Cebu for the final chapter of their adventure. 🌴

A big day exploring southern Cebu took the team to Oslob, where they experienced the region’s spectacular coastline and marine life, enjoyed time on the water and visited the beautiful Tumalog Falls — with plenty of local food, laughs and a few memorable modes of transport along the way! 🏝️💦

After a week filled with school visits, classroom observations, team teaching, professional conversations, new friendships and Saturday’s PD workshop, it was a pretty special way to slow down and experience another side of the Philippines.
For most of the team, this marks the end of Philippines 2026 and the journey home. A few are keeping the adventure going a little longer with our optional Coron add-on. ✈️🌊

A huge thank you to our wonderful 2026 team, our partners and the many Filipino educators who welcomed us so warmly. From the classrooms of Cavite to the turquoise waters of Cebu — what an experience. ❤️🇵🇭

🇰🇭 CAMBODIA PEP 2027 — IT’S OFFICIAL!

A few weeks ago we floated the idea of Cambodia… and the response was pretty clear. So we got to work! 😊

We’re excited to officially launch our inaugural Cambodia Professional Exchange Program, running 3–12 January 2027.

This 10-day PEP will take us from Kampong Cham to Chiro Village and Siem Reap, combining:

🇵🇭 A special farewell to OzPhil College

What a way to wrap up the school component of our Philippines 2026 Professional Exchange Program!

Friday marked the final day in classrooms for our Global Teachers after a week of observing, collaborating, team teaching and building some wonderful relationships with their OzPhil teaching partners and students. The week finished with a very special farewell — and a traditional boodle fight shared with our teaching partners! ❤️

Then on Saturday, it was time to bring the professional learning together. Our Global Teachers hosted a Professional Development Workshop, joined by educators from OzPhil College and local public schools.

Through practical sessions, professional discussion and plenty of participation, teachers shared classroom strategies, explored different approaches to teaching and learning, and exchanged ideas that could be adapted across their different educational contexts.

That teacher-to-teacher exchange is at the heart of Global Teacher — not simply sharing what we do, but creating opportunities for educators to learn with and from one another. 🇵🇭🇦🇺

A huge thank you to the leadership, teachers, students and wider OzPhil community for welcoming our team so warmly throughout the week.
And now, with the professional exchange complete, the team is off to the islands!

🌴 LOVINA 2027 IS CONFIRMED! 🇮🇩

We’re heading back to where some of Global Teacher’s earliest international programs began — beautiful North Bali.

Lovina has become one of our most loved Professional Exchange Programs, giving educators the opportunity to step away from Bali’s busy south and experience a quieter, more local side of the island.

From 28 March – 6 April 2027, our group will spend ten days combining genuine professional exchange with plenty of time to experience Bali.

🇵🇭 Day 5 | Philippines 2026

Our Philippines team is well and truly into the swing of their professional exchange at OzPhil College!

Over the past few days, our educators have been working alongside their teaching partners, building relationships with staff and students, observing different approaches to teaching and learning, and increasingly getting involved through collaborative teaching, modelling lessons and sharing ideas in the classroom.

On Wednesday, the team also stepped outside OzPhil to visit Salitran Elementary School, providing another opportunity to experience a local public-school setting and broaden their understanding of education in the Philippines.

And of course, there's been plenty happening beyond the school day too! 🇵🇭 From relaxing by the pool and exploring the local malls, to trying Filipino food, jumping aboard the local trikes and catching a beautiful sunset in Tagaytay — the team is certainly making the most of their time here.

Tomorrow marks their final day in classrooms at OzPhil, finishing with a traditional boodle fight alongside their teaching partners before the team turns its attention to preparing for Saturday's professional development workshop.
Then it's off to Cebu for the final part of the adventure! 🌴

🇵🇭 Day 2 | The professional exchange begins

What a welcome for our Philippines 2026 team! ❤️

Our first morning at OzPhil College began with a beautiful flag ceremony and cultural welcome from the school community before our Global Teachers met the local educators they’ll be working alongside throughout the week.

From there, it was straight into the classrooms — observing, sharing ideas, working with students and beginning the professional conversations that sit at the heart of the Global Teacher exchange model.

These first days are about much more than seeing a different school system. They’re an opportunity to understand teaching and learning in a different cultural and educational context, build genuine teacher-to-teacher relationships, and learn from the experience and perspectives on both sides.

Welcoming, heart-warming, inspiring and already eye-opening. A pretty special first day at OzPhil. 🇵🇭🇦🇺

Plenty more to come as these partnerships develop throughout the week.

Meet the Aussie Pineapples! 🇦🇺🍍🤖

Global Teacher, with support from the Australian Government, has partnered with St Peters Lutheran College and Grace Lutheran College Rothwell to support four Queensland students as they prepare to represent Australia at the 2027 ASIJ VEX V5 Robotics Competition Tournament in Tokyo this January.

St Peters and Grace Lutheran College have collaborated in robotics competitions for over a decade and look forward to continuing this partnership.

The Aussie Pineapples have already been busy designing, building and coding their VEX competition robot, with their first live competition coming up at the QLD | Sunnybank Showdown on 3 October.

This project is supported by the Sponsorship Grants for Student Science Engagement and International Competitions program.

🇵🇭 Our Philippines Team 2026 has arrived!

After settling in and doing a little exploring, our team kicked off their Philippines experience with a day discovering Manila — exploring historic Intramuros, learning more about the city's history and culture, visiting a local distillery and taking in plenty of the sights along the way.

The day finished with a fantastic welcome dinner (and a little singing! 🎤) at La Fiesta with our local partners — a great way to officially begin the program.
Today, the professional exchange begins, with our educators heading into schools to meet the Filipino teachers they'll be working alongside throughout the week.

Over the coming days they'll be observing classrooms, sharing ideas, collaborating and learning from one another, before bringing that learning together through our professional development workshop later in the week.
