Planting experiment

Children investigate seed germination and plant growth

Children explored planting experiments together. They learned about nature, seed germination and how plants grow. Everyone took part as we grew lentils in cotton and onions in jars.

Each child will care for their own container and spray water on it every day. We will watch our seeds and onions carefully to see the roots and green leaves as they grow.

Bush Kindy…
What is Bush Kindy?
Bush Kindy, also known as Forest School or Nature Play, is a nature-based learning program where children spend time outdoors, often in natural environments like forests or parks, to learn and play. It emphasizes child-led exploration and discovery, fostering a connection with nature while promoting holistic development.

Bush Kindy is an amazing way for our children to truly connect with nature and extend their learning experiences. Real life nature spaces allows children to engage in authentic experiences in their local community that fosters children to connect with nature. Nature programs actively supports children’s positive wellbeing and holistic development.

Good Touch and Bad Touch Learning

We initiated an important learning experience about body safety and understanding good touch vs. bad touch .

To help the children grasp this sensitive topic in a developmentally appropriate way, we read a boook and I set up a visual and hands-on activity using a teddy bear on our tuff tray. I placed red lids on the teddy bear’s lips, chest, and private parts to represent areas associated with bad touch. To highlight good touch, I used green lids on the teddy bear’s hands and feet.During group time, we gathered around to have an open and calm discussion. We used printable body safety worksheets to reinforce learning and support children’s understanding of personal boundaries.

This activity helped children begin to distinguish between touches that are safe and appropriate versus those that are not. It also opened up space for ongoing conversations about seeking help and saying “no, Don't touch and go away"

Science Week

Dental Health Week is an annual campaign run by the Australian Dental Association (ADA) in the first full week of August each year. It aims to educate Australians about the importance of maintaining good oral health. The campaign focuses on promoting key messages about oral hygiene and dental care to help people keep their teeth and smiles for life

Keeping your child's teeth and gums clean will protect against infection, cavities and pain. Decayed baby teeth can damage the permanent (adult) teeth underneath. It's important for your child to get into a regular oral hygiene routine to prevent tooth decay.

World Environment Day 5/6/25
This year’s theme for World Environment Day is and calls for collective action to tackle plastic waste. Land, water and air continue to be adversely affected by excessive amounts of plastic waste and its production.

World Environment Day – Putting an End to Plastic Pollution

We started our learning by talking about our environment and ways we can protect it from plastic. Together, we focused on the World Environment Day theme of putting an end to plastic pollution (EYLF Outcome 2.4). The children joined in by picking plastic out of the tuff tray to help save the ocean and the animals’ environment. When children asked to play with animal toys in the tray, I explained that we needed to clean up all the plastics first to help keep the animals safe—just like real life. This supports children to develop a sense of responsibility for their world, following our philosophy of fostering care for the environment.

Collect and Earn

We had the ‘collect and earn’ experience. The children brought bags of plastic bottles from home to recycle. Each child had a turn to put their bottles into the recycling machine and we watched as the money grew. We finished by washing our hands, reinforcing safe and healthy practices (EYLF Outcome 3.2, Staying Healthy in Childcare Guidelines).

Celebratory Treat

On the way back, we used the money we earned to buy ice cream at Hungry Jacks. The children really enjoyed this as a celebration after their hard work. Through these experiences, the children are learning about recycling and how to take care of our environment—developing important life skills and environmental awareness (EYLF Outcome 2.4, NQS 3.2.3).
