🩷 “Ngany Kaarla Koorling – I’m going home” 🩷
A beautiful Aboriginal palliative care resource was created by mob for mob in the Great Southern region of WA. The community working group brought their language, artwork and design to create this wonderful resource, the project was led by local Palliative Care Aboriginal Health Liaison Officer, Colleen Cox.
The project has already sparked vital conversations surrounding palliative care, empowering the Great Southern Community to walk forward in strength to have those difficult conversations in the hopes of breaking down some of the barriers Aboriginal people still face surrounding palliative care.

This project is facilitated by IPEPA, PaSCE in collaboration with WA Country Health, Palliative Care Program.

IPEPA NSW attended Lismore to present both the “Culturally Responsive Palliative Care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples” and the “Palliative Approach to Care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Professionals” workshops.
The workshops were full of amazing health workers and clinicians committed to improving culturally responsive access and service to palliative care patients, families and their supports, in which we are so grateful to. A huge thank you to all attendees for your active participation, thoughtful questions, and commitment to delivering culturally respectful care.
✨A special mention has to go to Djaan, Aboriginal Health Manager and his team from NNSWLHD Specialist Palliative Care Services Specialist for their dedication in making the workshops such a success. ✨
