WORDS TO AVOID
Did you know that, in your job applications (and interviews), there are actually some words and phrases that you should avoid using, for a few different reasons. These include:
❌ Only
❌ Just
❌ Motivated
❌ Hard working
❌ Helped
So, which words SHOULD you use? It depends. It depends on whether you understand the definition of the word and its correct context and connotation.
My honest advice here would be to use a thesaurus (online or physical) and come up with a variety of different words and phrases that can be used synonymously!

NOW WHAT?
If you've recently - or ever - lost your job, then I know the pain that you're going through.
That sinking feeling deep inside your stomach. Overwhelming emotions, such as "what the f--- do I do now?" and feelings of disappointment and letting your loved ones down.
So what should you be doing?
Fear not! I have broken down the steps that I advise anybody to take and it all starts with taking a time out. Decompress before taking action.

"It's alright for you, because blah blah blah".
Believe it or not, I've failed more times in my career than I care to admit - even jobs which I was dominating.

DON'T GO IT ALONE
Navigating a career is a very personal thing. It's also very intimidating, often with a lot of moving parts.
But here's the thing: you actually CAN ask for help from a whole range of people.
Help comes in many different packages as well.
Whatever the kind of support you need, just know that you don't have to do it all by yourself.
In fact, one of the biggest regrets of my professional life has been not accepting help from others when, deep down, I've been drowning with trying to tackle things alone!

SURROUND YOURSELF WITH BETTER PEOPLE
Want to level up in your career? Surround yourself with people who inspire you, challenge you, and push you to be your best.
When you surround yourself with people who are better than you at work, you open yourself up to new ideas, perspectives, and approaches to problem-solving.
Working alongside people who are more experienced, skilled, or knowledgeable than you can help you develop new skills, learn from their successes (and failures), and grow as a professional.
Plus, being around high-achieving colleagues can motivate you to work harder, set higher goals for yourself, and strive for excellence in all that you do.
So don't be afraid to seek out opportunities to collaborate with coworkers who are at the top of their game. You might be surprised at how much you can learn and how far you can go with their support and mentorship.

MENTORING
As you’ll know, a mentor is somebody that can provide advice and guidance to help you in achieving your goals.
Mentors can be for anything and everything:
👉 Business
👉 Life
👉 Sports
👉 Careers
etc.
Career Mentoring is the skill of advising somebody on how to achieve certain career goals or develop in their field. Such advice includes topics such as job searching; networking; creating career plans.
Finding a mentor, however, is the tricky part. Try and find a mentor whose career is in a place you’d like to take yours to and has “walked the walk”. Ideally somebody with similar values to yours and will be compatible but that will push you.
