Today was our final high school assembly of the semester.

This term our school captains, vice captains and sports captains have taken the reins to lead the whole assembly. This week they provided an update on sports day, with everyone practicing their house warcries in preparation for our upcoming sports day in week 3 next term. Plus they reminded everyone of next Friday’s PBL fun day pyjama party!

We also celebrated the achievements of many of our students who were present with Principal certificates for demonstrating success in following the school expectations.

Congratulations to all award recipients.

Next high school assembly will be term 3 Week 3.

Our senior students have been showcasing their creativity and teamwork through our Media Arts program, learning the exciting process of stop motion animation.

Students used a range of tools and technology including green screens, lighting equipment, stop motion software and video editing apps to bring their ideas to life. From planning their storylines to selecting props and designing scenes, every step of the process was student-led.

Creating stop motion also required collaboration, communication skills, and lots of patience with students working in pairs to carefully move pieces frame by frame while their partner captured each photo. Some of the movies they created had over 100+ frames!

We are so proud of the creativity, problem-solving and teamwork our students demonstrated while producing their final products.

P.S sound on for two of the videos to hear the sounds effects the students added!

This semester, students have been enthusiastically participating in Music lessons and exploring different ways to perform and create music. A wonderful opportunity took place on Friday 15th May when Renata Jayne visited our school and performed two engaging shows for our primary students.

The students were excited to experience a live musical performance and thoroughly enjoyed being involved throughout the shows. Renata encouraged everyone to participate by using a wide range of materials and musical instruments, creating an interactive and energetic atmosphere.

Students also had the opportunity to dress up as characters and help act out a story, adding fun to the performance. Some students even had the chance to sing using a microphone, which was a highlight for many.

It was a memorable experience for all involved.

PBL Fun Day Disco was a great way to wrap up Term 1!
The event had a proper disco ‘vibe’ with a dance floor, great music, great dance moves, awesome lighting and decorations. Students had helped us choose the songs beforehand, which made it even more exciting when their favourites came on!
There was a really nice mix of high energy and calm spaces, so everyone had something they could enjoy. We had a sensory corner with bean bags, bubbles, and musical instruments, as well as a chill room for anyone who needed a quieter space to take a break. The limbo game was very popular and the photobooth was a big hit for capturing some fun moments.
Students could also dress up and use inflatable guitars, microphones, and glasses to get their groove on!
The disco was a huge success and the feedback from students was extremely positive! It was great to see students enjoying themselves, getting involved, and having fun together.
