This year our teachers have been shining a spotlight on one of the most important parts of learning at Mackenzie State Special School: Engagement
As part of our vision, "Creating a culture of engagement, belonging and achievement through flexible learning for every student," teachers have been reflecting on what engagement looks like for their students. The result is a wonderful collection of moments that capture learning in action across every age group.
We know that engagement doesn't always look the same. Sometimes it's students collaborating with peers, communicating using AAC, exploring hands-on learning, building independence, solving problems, participating in community experiences, or celebrating small but significant milestones. What connects every photo is students actively participating in learning in ways that are meaningful, purposeful and responsive to their individual strengths and needs.
These photos are a great reminder that when learning is flexible, engaging and centred on the needs of each student, incredible things happen. We are proud of our students, and grateful to our staff for creating classrooms where every student has the opportunity to engage, belong and achieve.
