🌿✨ What a special Outdoor Classroom Day! ✨🌿

On June, 10 of this month our service took 25 children who were immersed in learning, play, and connection to Country at Pullenvale Environmental and Education Centre. We were welcomed by Uncle Joe, who shared stories about Yuggera culture, reading weather through nature, caring for Country, and the importance of traditional knowledge.

Across four hands-on sessions the children explored:
🎨 Animal Foot Painting – expressing connection through art and senses
🍃 Leaf Dadirri – listening to nature, yarning, movement, and respecting what nature provides
🌳 Earth Walk with Uncle Joe – discovering native plants, traditional uses of sap, leaves, tools, and exploring natural textures
🦘💧 Dreamtime Dancing – bringing the story of Tiddalick to life through movement and imagination

To finish the day, Uncle Joe shared stories about the significance of emus and culture through his book Karana.

The children showed such curiosity, respect, and engagement throughout the day and embraced every experience with open minds and hearts ❤️ We’d love to hear what your child shared with you about their day 🌿💛

🌿🍊 Mud Kitchen Magic at Fig Tree Pocket 🍊🌿

Today our Pre-Kindy children enjoyed a wonderful morning of nature-based play in the mud kitchen. The children were excited to discover the oranges growing on our orange tree and eagerly incorporated them into their imaginative play.
Working together, they created delicious pretend meals, cakes, and special recipes, using mud, natural materials, and freshly picked oranges to bring their ideas to life. It was wonderful to see their creativity flourish as they mixed, stirred, decorated, and shared their creations with friends.
Through this hands-on experience, the children developed important skills including cooperation, communication, problem-solving, and creativity. They explored different textures, practised sharing resources, and engaged in meaningful conversations as they collaborated and played.

At Fig Tree Pocket, we value the rich learning opportunities that nature provides, encouraging children to connect with the environment through play, exploration, and discovery every day.

🍃 Learning through nature, imagination, and play. 🍃

🌟 Exciting Learning in Our Pre-Kindy Room! 🌟

At our Fig Tree Pocket centre, we are always looking for creative ways to engage our children’s curiosity and learning. Our wonderful educator in the Pre-Kindy room has transformed the space into a construction zone, sparking the children’s imaginations and curiosity! 🏗️🔨

This hands-on environment encourages exploration, problem-solving, and teamwork as the children build, create, and learn about the world around them. It’s a fantastic opportunity for them to develop fine motor skills, spatial awareness, and critical thinking—while having fun! ✨

We’re so proud to see our little learners diving into this new project with such enthusiasm and creativity. Keep up the great work, kids! 💪

🥰🥰Professional Development🥰🥰

We had a wonderful staff meeting on Tuesday at Fig Tree Pocket Centre, where our team engaged in professional development focused on “Building Bridges to Regulation through Communication.”

It was an incredibly valuable and inspiring learning experience, led by Debbie Miller. Our educators gained meaningful insights into supporting children’s emotional regulation through thoughtful and effective communication strategies.

We’re excited to continue implementing these practices in our daily interactions and strengthening the supportive environment we provide for every child. 🌿

Thank you, Debbie, for sharing your knowledge and passion with us!

Learning through fun provides children with meaningful opportunities to explore and understand concepts in an engaging way. By introducing simple tools such as a pulley system, children can investigate how weight moves and how objects can be lifted, lowered, and manipulated. In an early childhood environment, this hands-on exploration encourages curiosity, problem-solving, and critical thinking. As children explore, experiment, laugh, and play, they naturally build foundational knowledge and skills, making learning both enjoyable and memorable.
