Did you know that under certain new updates, some Australian visas cannot be granted on-shore?

Here is what international students & visa holders need to understand:
📌 If your visa cannot be granted on-shore, you MUST travel offshore to receive your decision before returning to Australia.
📌 Bridging Visa A (BVA) issues: You cannot hold or rely on a BVA for a visa application that isn't eligible for an on-shore grant.

🚨 BREAKING AUSTRALIA STUDENT VISA UPDATE 🇦🇺 | EFFECTIVE 1 OCTOBER 2026

New rules. New restrictions. A major change for international students already in Australia.

From 1 October 2026, new rules significantly restrict who can apply for another Student Visa (Subclass 500) while onshore in Australia.

⚠️ Who can still apply onshore?

🎓 Doctoral students
📚 Students affected by provider default
🔄 Students finishing their current course
⬆️ Eligible students moving up to a higher qualification

👨‍👩‍👧 What about family members?

Under the new rules, eligible family members must apply at the same time as the main student. Subsequent applications to join later are no longer generally available under these provisions.
