🦕🌿 A Little World Where Big Imaginations Roam… 🌿🦖

Yesterday, our tuff tray transformed into a wonderfully wild prehistoric landscape, inviting our children to step into a world where curiosity, creativity and imagination could run free! ✨
With soft green sand, leaves, natural resources and magnificent dinosaurs, this sensory small-world provocation created endless possibilities for exploration, storytelling and discovery. 🌱🦕✨
As little hands scooped, poured, moved and moulded the sand, the children became immersed in their own prehistoric adventures. Dinosaurs wandered through leafy landscapes, hidden treasures were discovered and imaginative stories began to unfold.

🌿🌈✨ Kindy Sensory Explorers: Mixing, Creating & Discovering! ✨🌈🌿

Our Kindy children immersed themselves in a vibrant sensory play experience, exploring chia seeds, coloured liquids, sand, and aromatic herbs. Through mixing, pouring, scooping, and creating, the children investigated a variety of textures, colours, and scents while engaging in meaningful hands-on learning.

As the children combined different coloured liquids, they observed how colours changed and blended, encouraging curiosity and early scientific thinking. The addition of chia seeds, sand, and herbs provided endless opportunities for sensory discovery, allowing children to explore with all their senses while expressing their ideas and creativity.

☕🥭 Happy International Coffee Day from Journey Early Learning Brisbane Airport! 🥭☕

Today we celebrated International Coffee Day with a special treat for our wonderful families and community.

A huge thank you to our talented Chef Roberto, who prepared a delicious Tropical Mango Coconut Cake for everyone to enjoy. The refreshing tropical flavours were the perfect accompaniment to our celebration!

To make the day even more special, we also hosted a free coffee booth, where parents were invited to enjoy a complimentary coffee as a small token of appreciation for all that they do each day.

At Journey Early Learning Brisbane Airport, we love creating opportunities to connect with our families, celebrate special occasions, and share moments of warmth and community together.

Today, our Nursery children transformed into busy construction workers as they explored our sensory construction site!
Using diggers, scoops, sand, rocks, and natural materials, the children enjoyed digging, loading, pouring, and discovering through hands-on play.
This engaging experience supported the development of: ✨ Fine motor skills through scooping, grasping, and pouring materials
✨ Hand-eye coordination as children manoeuvred the construction vehicles and tools
✨ Sensory exploration by experiencing different textures such as sand, bark, and stones
✨ Problem-solving skills as children investigated how to move and transport materials

🌿 Nature Playdough Exploration: Inspiring Creativity and Connection with Nature 🌿

This week, our Kindy children enjoyed a wonderful Nature Playdough Exploration, using a variety of natural resources such as leaves, sticks, seed pods, flowers, and bark collected from the environment. Through rolling, squashing, pressing, poking, and creating, the children explored the textures, shapes, and patterns found in nature while expressing their creativity and imagination.

This hands-on learning experience supports the development of fine motor skills by strengthening the small muscles in children's hands and fingers, which are important for future writing and self-help skills. Using natural materials alongside playdough also encourages sensory exploration, problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity as children investigate different ways to combine and manipulate materials.

Nature-based play provides meaningful opportunities for children to build a connection with the natural world, develop respect for the environment, and engage in open-ended learning experiences. It was wonderful to see the Kindy children sharing ideas, collaborating with their peers, and creating unique nature-inspired masterpieces.

Give a child a basket of blocks and suddenly… anything is possible! 🏰🚀🌉

A castle for dragons, a bridge for teddy bears, a rocket heading to the moon, or perhaps a very important home for a tiny dinosaur! 🐉🐻🦖
Block play is where imagination takes the lead and little architects, engineers, storytellers and problem-solvers come to life. As children stack, balance, build, knock down and start all over again, they’re learning about space, size, stability, mathematics, persistence, collaboration and creative thinking, all while having a whole lot of fun! 💫

And perhaps the most magical part?
There are no instructions, no right or wrong way to build, and no limit to where their imagination can take them. ❤️
Today’s masterpiece may be made of blocks… but the possibilities are limitless! ✨🧱🌈

Story Time Fun in Pre-Kindergarten & Kindergarten!

Our little learners gathered together for a special storytelling session!

Sitting on the mat, the Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten children listened with excitement as the story came to life on our blue story board.

The children were captivated by all the colorful characters and eagerly followed along with the story. Their curious faces, listening ears, and big imaginations made the experience truly magical!

Story time is a wonderful way to encourage listening skills, imagination, language development, and a love for stories and learning.

💙 Queensland Child Protection Week | The Rights of the Child 💙

We are incredibly fortunate to have our amazing Pedagogical Partner, Susan, visiting our centre and spending time alongside our educators and children. 🌿
During her visits this week, Susan took the opportunity to shift from coaching our educators to connecting directly with our Kindergarten children. Here’s what she shared about her experience:
“As we acknowledge Queensland Child Protection Week, I took the opportunity to shift from coaching our educators to connecting with children. As I sat with our Kindergarten children at our Journey Early Learning Group, Brisbane Airport Centre, we explored something big: their rights.
Using The Big Book of Rights, we unpacked the Convention on the Rights of the Child together, looking at articles that were relatable to them.
They then got to share their right through representation. Isla, 5, drew herself playing with her friends: ‘This is me, playing with my friends.’ Article 31 — a child’s right to play. This leads us to project-based work as we continue to explore through the rights of the child.
This is child protection in practice, helping children find the language and confidence to know their rights are real, present, and theirs.”

What a beautiful reminder that child protection begins with empowering children to understand, express and advocate for their own rights. 💙
We are so proud of our Kindergarten children for sharing their voices and ideas, and incredibly grateful to Susan for continuing to inspire and support our team in embedding meaningful, rights-based practice into our everyday curriculum. 🌱✨
