Harmony with all Creation: Celebrating St Francis of Assisi

As we celebrate the feast of St Francis Assisi today (4 October), we also conclude the Season of Creation.

As Sisters Marie Roche and Adrienne Gallie share in their reflection, "Our prophetic stance of Inclusion and Pope Francis’ invitation to ‘nurture that sublime fraternity with all creation which St Francis of Assisi so radiantly embodied’ (Laudato Si’, para. 221) encourages us to look again at the quality of our relationship with our animal kin.

"[Our co-founders] Saint Mary MacKillop and Father Julian Tenison Woods serve as fine examples of where this sublime fraternity can personally take us: Mary loved the company of animals from her early life to the bond she shared with her beloved dog ‘Bobs’ later in life. Julian noted as a truly ‘entheos’ one, found God in all the creatures of our world.

"St Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals, the environment and ecology, instinctively knew that ‘not to hurt our humble brethren’ was only part our duty; we are also to be moved by an attitude of service to them."

💚 WELCOME BACK TO TERM 4! 💚
We hope all our Joeys and families have enjoyed a wonderful, restful break and are feeling refreshed and ready to jump into Term 4! 🎒📚
We have a jam-packed term of fun, learning, celebrations and excitement ahead as we make the most of the final term and see out another fantastic school year together.
☀️ With the warmer days well and truly here, please remember to send your Joeys to school each day with their school hat and a full water bottle to help them stay sun-safe and hydrated.
📅 Term 4 begins Tuesday 6 October at 8:40am.
We can’t wait to welcome everyone back through the gates and hear all about your holiday adventures!

Today, our Senior Choir and Year 5/6 students had the privilege of attending the Season of Creation Mass at St Stephen's Cathedral, celebrated by Archbishop Shane Mackinlay.

Our Senior Choir represented St Joseph's beautifully, filling the Cathedral with song and accompanied by our incredibly talented Instrumental and Vocal Music staff. We are so proud of the reverence, enthusiasm and musical excellence they shared with the wider Catholic community.

Before Mass, our Year 5/6 students spent time in St Stephen's Chapel, where they visited the diocesan shrine of Saint Mary MacKillop and reflected on her life of faith, service and perseverance.

The Season of Creation invites us to give thanks for God's creation and consider how we can be good stewards of our common home. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to gather in prayer, worship and reflection alongside schools from across the Archdiocese.

A special thank you to our choir students and staff for representing St Joseph's with such pride.

To all the dads, grandads, uncles and special men in the lives of our St Joseph’s students, we wish you a very happy Father’s Day!

We hope you enjoy the special gifts your Joeys purchased from our KP Father’s Day Stall. Whether you are spending the day on the golf course, playing soccer, enjoying a tea party or simply relaxing together, it is precious moments like these that fill everyone’s buckets.

💙👔 FATHER’S DAY LITURGY – TOMORROW AT 9AM 👔💙

We are looking forward to welcoming our dads, grandfathers, uncles and special male figures tomorrow morning as we come together to celebrate our Father’s Day Liturgy.

⛪ 9:00am in the Church

We would love to see as many of our special men as possible join us for this beautiful celebration with our Joeys. It’s a wonderful opportunity to recognise and give thanks for the important role you play in the lives of our children. 💙

📅 A quick reminder for families:
Friday, 4 September is a Student Free Day.

There will be no classes on Friday, so please ensure you have organised alternative care for your child/children or booked OSHC if required.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our Book Week Parade and truly got into the spirit of the event. It was fantastic to see so many creative costumes, smiling faces and much loved book characters come to life!
A very special thank you to Mrs Goodwin and her wonderful team for creating an incredible week of celebrations around this year’s theme, A Symphony of Stories. From Rug Reading and arts and crafts to Book-a-Licious, our author visit and, of course, the fabulous parade, it has been a week filled with imagination, laughter and a love of reading.

Our Joeys enjoyed a delicious Book-a-Licious treat as part of our wonderful Book Week celebrations! Inspired by much-loved storybook characters, there were three magical creations to choose from:
🌙✨ Amelia’s Silky and Moon Face Magical Delight
🖤👑 Jordan’s Black Top King
🍫📚 Seraphina’s Gruffalo Choc Swirl
A very special thank you to Mrs Goodwin, along with Jordan, Amelia and Seraphina, for sharing their creativity and helping bring these delicious stories inspired treats to life. Thank you also to everyone who helped prepare and serve them!
