Weaving Networks: Strengthening Pacific Health Together 🌺🌊
It was a privilege for Sema Wellbeing Services to be part of the 3rd OPHA Oceania Pacific Health Association conference this year.
Our OPHA journey began in 2024, with Zachary Schuster presenting on behalf of Sema, sharing our work in supporting the wellbeing of workers within the PALM scheme.
This year, our team contributed in the following ways:
🌿 Adriana Fuatau joined the Student Session, connecting with Pacific students around study and career pathways in social work, mental health and allied health.
🌿 Valami Waqaliva presented an update on the PALM scheme, reflecting on developments since 2024 and the evolving mental health and wellbeing priorities of PALM workers.
It was inspiring to witness the calibre and breadth of Pacific talent represented across the conference from medicine, nursing and allied health, to research, leadership, advocacy and media.
It was particularly meaningful to see Anasina Gray-Barberio MP with her background in social work and community services, sharing her journey and leadership.
We were also great to see Johnson Raela from ABC Pacific as MC, bringing his voice, energy and Pacific storytelling to the conference.
The Gala was a celebration in its own right, featuring the incredible Tofiga Fepulea’i, a Samson Lee fashion parade, and a beautiful coming together of Pacific culture, creativity and connection. 🌺
Congratulations to the OPHA Board on an incredible third conference, and thank you for creating a space where Pacific people across professions, generations and disciplines can connect, share knowledge, celebrate one another and strengthen Pacific health together ✨ 🌊
