🌱 What does success look like in our school?

When we think about learning, it's easy to picture the ABCs, counting to 10 or writing their name.

But some of the most important lessons happen long before a child picks up a pencil.

Success in our school also looks like...

Is your child feeling a little... "off" lately?

As we reach the middle of the school year, it's completely normal for little ones to experience a bit of mid-year fatigue.

You may notice:
🤍 More emotional mornings or afternoons
🤍 Bigger feelings
🤍 Extra tiredness after school
🤍 Increased clinginess

The good news? It's all part of growing and learning.

One of the best ways to support children through this season is by keeping routines consistent. Predictable bedtimes, calm mornings, nutritious meals and time to play help children feel secure, confident and ready to learn.

At Olivedale Montessori, our daily routines provide the stability children need to flourish, even when they're feeling a little more tired than usual.

Sometimes our little ones don't need something new... they simply need their cup filled again. 💚

❤️ Dear Parents,

We know that morning drop-offs aren't always easy.
Some mornings your little one can't wait to get through the gate.

Other mornings, they hold onto your hand a little tighter, a few tears are shed, and saying goodbye feels much harder than either of you expected.
And sometimes... it's you who drives away, wondering, "Are they okay?"

We want you to know... they are. ❤️

Not because they stop missing you, but because they're gently reminded that they're safe, they're loved, and they're surrounded by people who care.
Before long, those little tears are replaced with big smiles.

They're busy building towers, creating colourful masterpieces, searching for bugs in the garden, racing to the playground with their friends, or telling us all about the dinosaur they dreamt about last night. 🦖

As teachers, we celebrate their every little victory, whether it's a first smile after a tricky goodbye, making a new friend, or hearing, "Teacher, come look what I made!"

Those are the moments we treasure.

Every child settles in their own time, and every child is met with patience, kindness, plenty of cuddles when they're needed, and lots of encouragement along the way.
Thank you for trusting us with your greatest gift. It is a privilege we never take for granted.

One of the best parts of working in a preschool is overhearing the wonderfully random conversations that happen every day. Sometimes they're hilarious, sometimes they're surprisingly deep, and sometimes... they leave us wondering where on earth they got that idea! 😂

🎵 More Than Music, It's Learning Through Play 🎵

At Olivedale Montessori, we're proud to offer Music Box as part of our extramural programme for our little learners.

Music Box is a proudly South African pre-music programme designed for children from babies to 6 years old. Through songs, movement, instrument play, storytelling, and creative exploration, children are introduced to the joy of music in a fun and engaging way.

But Music Box is about so much more than music.

Each lesson supports important areas of development, including:

🎶 Social skills and confidence
🎶 Emotional expression and self-awareness
🎶 Cognitive development and listening skills
🎶 Coordination, balance, and physical development
