Talk to us...
EduNurture is a platform dedicated to facilitating the learning process. We provide a platform where knowledge can be imparted.
Our creed stems from the belief that any skill that can be learnt is a skill that can be taught thereby bridging the gap between the desire to learn and the will to impart knowledge. EduNurture was founded in the year 2013 with the intention of assisting parents by offering tutors. Following several requests for tutors that were out of the academic scope the idea for this new platform was birthed.

Motivation
Motivation comes from two places: motivation that originates from one’s personal drive is intrinsic motivation, while extrinsic motivation is resultant from other people’s stimulus. Furthermore these motivation types can be either positive or negative. Today’s discussion is about extrinsic motivation.
Motivation is an important asset in succeeding. Some have argued that a less talented but motivated person can outperform an exceptionally talented person. It has been proven that a lack of and negative motivation is one of the main reasons for which people fail and or give up.
The distinction between Positive and negative motivation is often confused, e.g. Social convention may make it seem as though threatening to punish is the most natural thing to do, while it is in fact negative motivation. Take studying for example; despite good grades being the ultimate goal it is easy to lose motivation in the interim. A parent threatening to away their child’s phone is not good motivation. An employer threatening to fire their employee for underperforming might push them to work; however, it would create a hostile work environment which will stress the individual ultimately resulting in failure to perform accordingly.
Positive extrinsic motivation is often giving people an incentive. Rewards such as the latest phone, holiday or performance bonuses are typically good encouragements. Now before you freak out let me explain that good encouragements do not have to be costly rewards. That being said words are the primary motivational factors. Words of affirmation are good motivation e.g. “you can do this”, “you have so much potential”, etc.
Words are a powerful instrument and when motivating another person your tone and a wise choice of words must be kept in mind.
Be a great motivator
