When it comes to intentional travel behaviour, how do your travellers compare to the rest of the industry?

The first results are in from ABTA's global Intentional Traveller Behaviour Baseline Survey, which looked at the everyday choices travellers make once a business trip begins, from hotel energy use and food waste to single-use plastics, printing and overpacking.

Thank you, Cape Town!

Our Absa South Africa Commercial Travel Payments Summit, in partnership with ABTA and Mastercard, made it to The Westin on Thursday, and it was brilliant to catch up with everyone in the Mother City.

The morning covered the current payment ecosystem, including challenges and opportunities across Africa, but it was the round-table sessions that got people talking about everything from reconciliation to travel budget leakage and car rental payments.

Our favourite was the "magic wand" table: if you could fix just one thing in travel payments right now, what would it be?

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 3rd Annual Absa Commercial Travel Payments Summit at The Leonardo Hotel Sandton last week!

Massive thanks to Absa South Africa and Mastercard for partnering with us this year, and to our speakers for sharing insights on virtual cards, reconciliation and cross-border payments, one of the biggest barriers on the day, as regional acceptance still lags behind South Africa's.

It was exactly the kind of morning ABTA loves creating: buyers and suppliers talking honestly about trends and barriers, and coming away with practical ideas and solutions, in this case, for a more efficient, secure payments ecosystem.

Thank you to everyone who joined ABTA's Intentional Traveller Behaviour webinar last week!

It was fantastic to share early findings from our ongoing research project, and even better to see the interest it's gathering across the industry.

54% of respondents say they've given very little or no thought to the cumulative impact of small travel behaviours. But the good news is that once prompted to think about it, travellers are open to change: 59% see themselves as one of the parties most responsible for reducing the impact of their business trips.
