Today, we honour the courage of the more than 20 000 women who marched to the Union Buildings in 1956, and we celebrate the women who continue to shape our country, our communities and our future.

As we mark the 70th anniversary of this historic march, we reflect on this year's National Women's Day theme, 'Empowered Women Empower The Nation.' It is a reminder that when women are empowered to lead, learn and thrive, our communities and our nation are stronger.

At Steyn City School, we celebrate every woman who is part of our community. Thank you for the countless ways you lead, inspire, support and make a difference each day. Your strength, compassion and dedication help shape the lives of our students and the future they will create.

Some of life's most meaningful moments are the ones shared with the people we love.

Our Grade 00 students welcomed the special people in their lives for Special Persons Day. Classrooms were filled with smiles, hugs, laughter and proud little faces as students eagerly shared their school with those who mean the most to them. Watching these priceless moments unfold was a beautiful reminder that childhood is shaped by love, connection and a sense of belonging.

A heartfelt thank you to every grandparent and special person who joined us today. We truly appreciate you taking the time to be with us and for the love, encouragement and support you give our students each and every day.

𝗔𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗨𝗠𝗠𝗜𝗧

On Mandela Day, Saturday, 18 July 2026, Grade 8 student Theresho Seima reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, proudly raising the Steyn City School flag at Uhuru Peak, Africa's highest point.

As the youngest member of her group, Theresho completed the climb in support of a fundraising initiative to address period poverty, proving that every step can make a difference.

Congratulations, Theresho, on your incredible achievement. We are so proud of you!

Today, we proudly inaugurated the 2027 Steyn City School Student Leadership Team.

Chosen by their peers, our student leaders accepted their leadership portfolios and committed to serving our school community with courage, humility, integrity and heart.

From our Heads of School to every portfolio holder, each student has an important role to play in shaping our school culture and inspiring others through their example.

Congratulations to Karabo Meso, Oluhle Siyo and Diara Ramlakan on their selection to the South Africa Emerging Women's squad for the upcoming inbound series against Bangladesh Emerging.

The six-match series, taking place from 29 July to 11 August 2026, will feature three 50-over matches and three T20 matches at Chatsworth Oval in Durban and Pietermaritzburg Oval.

The tour forms part of Cricket South Africa's high-performance pathway, providing the country's emerging talent with valuable international experience.

We are incredibly proud to see three Steyn City School alumnae representing South Africa at this level. We wish Karabo, Oluhle and Diara every success as they take to the field in the green and gold.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Mitchell Theatre to support the final performance of 𝙏𝙃𝙍𝙀𝘼𝘿𝙀𝘿. It was a fitting celebration of the talent and dedication behind 𝙏𝙃𝙍𝙀𝘼𝘿𝙀𝘿.

We are thrilled to share that 𝙏𝙃𝙍𝙀𝘼𝘿𝙀𝘿 has gone on to achieve outstanding success at the FEDA Festival of Excellence in Dramatic Arts (FEDA), competing against 68 productions from schools across Gauteng.
