Our college students gathered in the courtyard this week to celebrate Grade 9 student Reece Butz, who leaves for Spain this Friday to take his kart racing onto the international stage.

Reece has enjoyed a strong season, achieving two first-place finishes and one second-place finish, and leaves for Spain this Friday to compete in the Tillotson T4 Nations Cup 2026 at the Kartรณdromo Internacional Lucas Guerrero in Chiva, Valencia.

The Nations Cup brings together kart racers from around the world, and we are incredibly proud to see Reece representing Steyn City School and South Africa. All the best, Reece. Weโ€™ll be cheering you on from home and following the action from Spain.

Grade 10 student Sivakaani Naidoo recently had the opportunity to interview Dr Onke Mazibuko about his newly released third novel, The Kings of Goat Hill.

Drawing on both his lived experience and professional background as a psychologist, Dr Mazibuko explores the culture of all-boysโ€™ schools and the challenges this can present in the socialisation of young men. The themes raised in the novel are particularly relevant to young people today and connect closely with Dr Mazibukoโ€™s work with youth.

Having read the book, Sivakaani led a thoughtful and perceptive conversation, asking reflective questions about the issues it raises.

The discussion captivated the audience and prompted further questions from our students, reflecting their curiosity and engagement with the themes explored.

Thank you to Dr Mazibuko for sharing his insights with our students, and to Sivakaani for leading such a considered conversation.

We look forward to seeing The Kings of Goat Hill being read and discussed across our community.

Our School looked and felt a little different this week.

In the lead-up to Heritage Day, there was colour, excitement and a real energy across Steyn City School. Our students wore traditional attire and South African colours, proudly reflecting the many histories, cultures and traditions they carry with them.

This time of year allows us to celebrate more visibly what is part of Steyn City School every day: the different stories and experiences our students bring with them.

What a privilege it is to learn from one another, celebrate what makes each of us unique and share in the sense of belonging that connects us.

Proud of who we are. Sisonke. Together.

Happy Heritage Day!

Today we celebrate the cultures, traditions and stories that make South Africa uniquely ours, and the shared sense of belonging that brings us together.

At Steyn City School, every story and every heritage adds to who we are. We celebrate our individuality, learn from one another and Reach Beyond together.

However you spend the day, may it be filled with pride, connection and celebration.

Coming together for something that matters.

Our Steyn City School community came together for our annual CANSA The Cancer Association of South Africa Shavathon, with students and staff getting behind the cause through colourful sprays, fresh cuts and bold shaves.

More than a fun day, it was a chance to show our support for those affected by cancer and to turn small actions into something meaningful.

A heartfelt thank you to our Steyn City School community for their generous contributions towards the CANSA Shavathon and for showing their support for a cause that touches so many lives.

Book Week brought our students, families and friends together through a shared love of reading.

Our Family Reading Picnic provided time to settle in with a good book, share stories and enjoy being together as a community.

Our Grade 7 students also joined our Early Years Centre students for Buddy Reading, sharing stories with our younger readers and creating a special connection across the school.

From families reading side by side to older students sharing stories with our youngest readers, Book Week reminded us that a love of reading is even more meaningful when it is shared.

Look who stepped out of the pages!

What better way to celebrate Book Week than by stepping into the pages of a favourite story!

One of the highlights of the week, our Book Character Dress-Up Day saw our Early Years Centre and Preparatory School students arrive as characters from some of their favourite books.

From much-loved classics to modern favourites, it was a celebration of books, imagination and the joy of reading.

To all our wonderful book characters, thank you for bringing so many smiles to campus.

To all in our community who observe Yom Kippur, we wish you a peaceful and meaningful day of reflection.

Observed through fasting, prayer and reflection, Yom Kippur is a time to seek forgiveness, make amends and look towards the year ahead with renewed purpose.

Gโ€™mar Chatimah Tovah. May you have an easy and meaningful fast.
