Tap at JATA 🎶

There is something very satisfying about tap. The rhythm, the timing, the sound of the shoes and that little moment when the feet and the music suddenly click.

At JATA, we offer ISTD Tap from Grade 1 through to Intermediate, with classes running on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

ISTD stands for the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, an internationally recognised dance training and examination body. So yes, it is fun and full of energy, but it is also proper technique, musicality, discipline and progression.

Perfect for students who love rhythm, movement, musical theatre energy or simply cannot keep still when the music starts.

The festival started today with Ballet running until 7 September, followed by Modern, Tap and Hip Hop from 8–17 September.

Well done, Bokke, on tonight’s win against New Zealand. The tension, the drama, the pressure and the finish… theatre kids were absolutely following the storyline.

Thank you for the music, Dolly Parton 🎶

For the songs, the stories, the sparkle, the humour and that enormous heart.

But also, thank you for everything that happened quietly in the background. The books sent to little hands. The love poured into education and literacy. The reminder that an artist can use her voice for so much more than the stage.

Dolly gave the world music, yes.

But she also gave people hope, opportunity and a very beautiful example of what it means to leave something good behind.

JATA is heading to the Renaissance Dance Festival this weekend ✨

Our students will be performing two pieces: Riverside and The Lightning Thief at Lesedi Joburg Theatre.

It’s always special seeing our performers take their work beyond the studio and onto another stage. Different venue, different audience, same JATA energy.
